Abstract: An article of luggage includes a garment bag enclosure and a packing case enclosure which advantageously cooperate with one another in a transportation state or condition and a use state or condition. The packing case enclosure is preferably connected to an inner panel of the garment bag enclosure. In the transportation condition, the garment bag enclosure folds over the top of the packing case enclosure and the luggage article is easily transported by carrying devices attached preferably to the exterior panel of the garment bag enclosure. In the use orientation, the interior panel of the garment bag enclosure is disconnected, and the packing case enclosure moves or pivots outward to an extended orientation. A divider panel provides access to the interior of the packing case enclosure while access to the garment bag enclosure is simultaneously available as a result of the detachment of the interior panel. In the use condition in which the packing case enclosure is in the extended orientation, the luggage article can be used to house garments on hangers and other smaller items within the packing case enclosure, thereby avoiding the necessity for unpacking and repacking the luggage article.

Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides a travel garment bag having a cover with an opening through which items to be carried within the bag may be inserted; a wire box inflexible frame enclosed within and supporting the cover; and a hanging strap attached to the inflexible frame and capable of extending through a second opening in a top wall of the cover. The hanging strap includes a strap having a hook and ring attached to opposite ends thereof. Abstract: Garment bags have been designed to carry garments on hangers, but have resulted in varying capabilities to help resist wrinkling these hanging garments during transport and storage. Disclosed is a garment bag with an arrangement of auxiliary pockets and compartments to help resists wrinkling. Specifically, one or more generally semi-cylindrical shaped pockets extend across the width dimension of the main packing compartment of the garment bag. Abstract: Apparatus for holding folding clothing in a compact bag, particularly one suited for storage under seats or in overhead bins on commercial aircraft is disclosed. A two part folding panel is connected at one edge parallel to a hinge between two compartments of a suitcase. A hanger carrying an article of clothing is attached to a hook on the interior of a side wall opposite the hinge so that the clothing lays across the bottom of the compartment and portions of the folding panel. Two arcuate padded bars are provided over a far end opposite the hinge and over a fold line on the folding panel so that the clothing is wrapped around same with a relatively large radius of curvature when the first panel segment is folded along the fold line over the second panel segment, and the composite folded panel is then folded into one compartment of the suitcase. A plurality of straps connected near the exterior edge of the peripheral wall of the compartment in which the panel is folded are provided with apparatus for connecting free ends thereof in order to provide a strap web that is taut over the folded panel but does not tend to compress the folded composite of clothing in panel.
