Abstract:
An automated banking machine (10) includes sheet dispensing mechanisms (34, 36, 38, 40). Each sheet dispensing mechanism includes a picking member (72). The picking member rotates, with each rotation generally causing one sheet to be picked from a stack (42) of sheets. The picking member includes movable engaging portions supported on arcuate segments (128, 144). The engaging portions move radially outward to apply additional moving force to an end note bound in the stack responsive to movement of the picking member exceeding the movement of the end note. Sheets are carried in the machine by a transport (54) including a plurality of belt flights (174, 176, 178). Sheets are carried between the belt flights and projecting member portions (180, 182). At least one of the belt flights includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced projections (194, 200, 204, 207) on a sheet engaging surface thereof. The projections provide improved engagement with sheets moving in the transport enabling more reliable movement of sheets.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for repairing a casting in a cold metal repair process includes a plurality of drilling fixtures which facilitate the creation of one or more lock receiving recesses positioned generally transverse to the casting crack. The lock receiving recesses are formed of a single sized circular bore combination having alternating double and single circular portions to maximize strength. A plurality of correspondingly configured metal locks are inserted into the lock receiving recesses to provide transverse metal locks drawing the casting portions on each side of the crack together. A plurality of threaded bores are formed along the remainder of the casting crack in overlapping spacing which receive a corresponding plurality of stitching pins. The stitching pins each define threaded shaft portions having pointed ends and undersized major pitch diameter threads adjacent the pointed ends. A frusto-conical shoulder is formed on the opposite end of the threaded shaft and a break off drive head is coupled to the frustro-conical shoulder by a break off groove structure. When the stitching pins are inserted into their respective threaded bores, the undersized major pitch thread portions facilitate the threading the pin into the threaded bores. The pointed ends of the stitching pins provide complete filling of the threaded bores while the frustro-conical shoulder portions are operative to crush the first few threads of the threaded bores to enhance the seal obtained.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for replacing the gripping member of the handle of a bucket. The replacement gripping member includes a plurality of interfitting pieces which can be installed on the handle of a bucket without requiring that the handle be removed from the bucket.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for removing non-condensing gas within a heat pipe are disclosed. A predetermined amount of a working fluid is filled into the heat pipe with an opening formed on a top end. The heat pipe is heated to obtain the working fluid with a saturated temperature and then the saturated temperature is maintained to have the working fluid being evaporated and boiled, such that the non-condensing gas is expelled by vapor of the working fluid. Finally, the opening is sealed when a predetermined amount of the vapor of the working fluid is discharged. The apparatus to perform the method includes a heater assembly providing the heat pipe installed therein and having a holder for holding the heat pipe to be positioned, and a sealer unit located above the heat assembly and having a clamping element and a driving mechanism to operate the clamping element.
Abstract:
Failures of existing bearing spring plates for a certain class of steam turbines typically occur at welds between a flexible support plate and a pedestal base plate. Most often, this leaves a part of the broken spring plate protruding from the base plate. A replacement bearing spring plate pedestal has a flexible plate integral with top and bottom mounting blocks meeting the flexible spring plate at large radii, polished and substantially free from stress risers. The bottom block has a channel machined into it of a width and height to admit and straddle the protruding part. A drill fixture permits drilling and tapping holes in the pedestal base plate to install the replacement spring plate pedestal at the proper location.
Abstract:
A tool for, and method of, removing a first component, such as a disc brake rotor, from an assembly, such as a disc brake assembly. The tool includes an elongated bar and a pressing device. The elongated bar has a pressing surface for pressing against the first component, and a backing surface opposite the pressing surface. The pressing device is connectable to the backing surface of the elongated bar. The pressing device is adjustable to engage a second component that is fixed to the assembly, in order to apply a force between the first component and the second component, to thereby remove the first component from the assembly.
Abstract:
A repair method and repair kit for repairing vehicle door skins by reorienting vehicle hem flange members from a closed orientation to an open orientation to allow removal of a damaged door skin from a door frame and replacing with a new door skin with an open orientation hem flange member that is reoriented to a closed orientation to integrate the door skin and door frame with an adhesive to provide a repaired integral vehicle door. The repair tool kit includes a first tool for lifting and opening the damaged door skin hem flange to allow removal of the damaged door skin and reuse of the door frame. The repair tool kit includes a second repair tool for reorientation and closing the new door skin replacement door skin hem flange on the reused door frame with an adhesive to provide a repaired vehicle door with the replacement skin and reused door frame integral as a vehicle door.
Abstract:
In a method for repairing damaged rotor blades (17) of the turbine part (11) of a gas turbine (10), at least the surface of the rotor blades (17) which are seated in the turbine part (11) and surrounded by a hot-gas casing is treated from the outside through a suitable opening (23). A method of this type is particularly simple to carry out and involves minimum shutdown times if those rotor blades (17) which, at the inlet of the turbine part (11), are arranged in a first row behind a first row of guide vanes (17) are treated, and if the spaces (23) between the guide vanes (16) belonging to the first row are used as openings for treating the rotor blades (17).
Abstract:
A method of repairing a crack (14) in a component (12). The method includes preparing a surrounding surface (22) of the crack (14) for repair and welding a first portion (24) of the component (12) on a first side (26) of the crack (14) to a second portion (28) of the component (12) on a second side (30) of the crack (14) to form a fused crack area (50). The method may also include applying a patch (78) over the fused crack area (50) for additional strength.
