Abstract: A device for supporting a ring binder vertically within a hanging file system of the type having laterally extending support rails, the device being suitable for use with conventional ring binders of the type having a spine and a ring mechanism secured to the spine by two or more fasteners. The device includes a thin, U-shaped support bracket adapted to be removably inserted between the spine of the ring binder and the ring mechanism of the ring binder. The U-shaped support bracket has a medial portion, a hook-like portion, and first and second elongate arms extending from the medial portion. The first and second elongate arms are spaced apart from one another and define an opening therebetween which is sized and adapted to receive therein one of the fasteners of the ring binder.

Abstract: A self locking file folder suspension hanger made up of two u-shaped end members supporting a pair of transversely spaced horizontal suspension members, the end members having upwardly extending free ends having doubled over end portions with the upper closed end portion being doubled over to form a pair of spaced closed upper ends and a depending closed end, the suspension members being disposed through and engaging the undersides of the upper closed ends and a cross member at each end underlying the ends of said suspension members, said cross member having angled end portions being disposed to underlie said suspension members in a downwardly angled position and being rotated axially through 180.degree. to have its angled ends bear up against the suspension members to engage and self-lock the same in a pressure action against the overlying upper closed ends.

Abstract: A binder comprises suspension bars, each defining a channel with apertures leading into the channel adjacent the ends thereof. Flexible support elements are threaded through holes in sheets of paper to be received in the binder so that the paper is carried upon the elements. The channel in each suspension bar is formed and dimensioned so as to releasably retain the ends of each element therein without the need for separate retaining means. The binder is assembled by passing the ends of the elements through the apertures and pushing them into the channel where they are held in place.

Abstract: An integrated system for storing and transporting files, flat materials, and office supplies is disclosed, including a file cabinet having bottomless drawers for receiving hanging file and supply holders, a briefcase having inward-facing ledges for receiving hanging holders, and a portable, unitary file holder compatible with standard letter and legal-size hanging file drawers. The file holder includes twin handles for grasping and carrying the file holder, a hanging file rail disposed within the file holder for supporting standard letter-size files, non-slip feet for placing the unitary file holder on any suitable surface, a plurality of divider panels and a file holder bottom portion disposed to receive such panels. A briefcase is provided and is adapted to receive such file holders by hanging and supporting them using means similar to a standard hanging file drawer. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a file holder is provided which is molded of a relatively rigid thermoplastic material. The supply holder hangs transversely in a file drawer and accepts panels for subdividing the holder in small compartments. The briefcase receives hanging file holders and folders on plural interior ledges disposed at a distance substantially equivalent to the distance between hanging rails in a standard hanging file drawer.

Abstract: The hanging file support frame of this invention includes two spaced apart end members of integral construction dwelling in substantially vertical planes, and having upper and lower portions. The end members include an upper horizontal strut extending across the lateral width of the end members, with the ends thereof terminating into C-shaped members. Two elongated parallel hanging bars have their opposite ends supported within the C-shaped members. Abstract: Hanging folder rods are flat strips having notches or hooks at their ends for riding on the rails of a file support frame. Notch depth is extended by long tips at the ends of the strip. By contouring the notches, extension, and end corners of the strips, the strips can be manufactured as a nested series with little void space between them. Strips nest, in one embodiment, with the top edge of one strip adjacent the bottom edge of another strip or, in another embodiment, with the bottom edges of two strips adjacent to each other. Manufacturing economy is effected by forming, for example, by stamping, the rods in the nested condition.

Abstract: A knockdown file cart which can be easily assembled without tools or fasteners, and which is rigid when assembled. The cart has two upstanding side panels with metal strips at their edges which form troughs. Two end panels have inwardly projecting flanges which can be slid down in the troughs and releasable locked in place by a spring tab on each flange that projects into a slot in the strips.
