    摘要: A system for enhancing a vehicle operator's orientation and ability to navigate a vehicle includes, but is not limited to, a display unit, a data storage unit, a position determining unit and a processor communicatively connected to the display unit, the data storage unit and the position determining unit. The processor is configured to obtain a position and heading of the vehicle from the position determining unit, to obtain terrain data from the data storage unit, and to control the display unit to display a three-dimensional representation of a terrain representative of an actual terrain proximate the vehicle. The processor controls the display unit to overlay a three-dimensional compass onto the three-dimensional representation of the terrain to display both the heading of the vehicle and the location of the vehicle with respect to the actual terrain.

    摘要: A radar indicator comprising a source of radar image signals having a first (r,.theta.) format and a digital scan converter responsive to the radar image signals for converting the radar image signals from the first format to digital radar image signals having a second (X-Y) format. The digital scan converter includes an image memory for supplying the digital radar image signals having the second (X-Y) format. A source of external video image signals having the second format, including video synchronization signals is provided. A synchronization signal stripper and clock signal generator circuit is responsive to the video synchronization signals of the external video image signals for generating a clock signal synchronized with the synchronization signals of the external video image signals. The clock signal is applied to the image memory of the digital scan converter for causing controlled read-out of the digital radar image signals in a manner synchronized with the image signals of the source of external video image signal. Video processing circuitry responsive to the synchronized digital radar image signals develop a radar video signal from the synchronized radar image signals, and a video mixer circuit mixes in a controlled manner the external video image signal with the synchronized radar video signals. The mixed external video images with the radar video images are subsequently displayed.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for displaying radar data on a display monitor, wherein the monitor is divided into octants, and wherein the radar data defines a pie-shaped slice to be displayed within an octant on the monitor. The radar data has a center point which is defined as a point on an x-y plane, a radius r which is a defined as a number of displacement units in length extending radially from the center point, a starting angle .theta., a delta angle .differential..theta., radial displacement data which defines the color of groups of displacement units along the radius r for the slice, and a quantity Q which is the number of groups of radial displacement data within said radar data. The radar data is received by a data processing system and stored in memory. The video display monitor is updated by a screen refresh memory controlled by a graphics accelerator. The graphics accelerator receive the radar data for the slice to be displayed from the data processing system; determines the octant in which the slice is to be displayed; expands the radial displacement data into a color table which correlates the radial displacement data to pixel colors so that each displacement unit along the radius r has a color assigned to it; generates vertical or horizontal fill vectors for filling in the slice as determined by the octant in which the slice is to be displayed, said vectors having pixel colors as determined by the color table; and inhibits the loading step while the expanding or generating steps are being performed.

    摘要: A bright display radar system having anticollision capabilities in which received signals are digitized at a rate determined by a radar range setting and displayed at a constant relatively slow rate independent of the range setting. A computer based anticollision unit operates in response to the relatively slow digitized received signals so that targets may be tracked equally well at short and long ranges. Two sets of operator actuable switches are provided for controlling the anticollision unit. A first set of switches is provided which correspond directly to the most commonly used computer operating functions. The second includes an alphanumeric keyboard which may be used to actuate subroutines stored in a physically separate read-only memory which operates only in response to the alphanumeric keyboard.
