摘要: A switch control unit detects a power supply voltage of a heater detected by a voltage detection unit, and switch is performed on a load state of the heater in a range from a first load state to a fourth load state when the detected power supply voltage falls into a predetermined first domain. On the other hand, the switch is performed on the load state that ranges from the first load state to the third load state when the detected power supply voltage falls into a predetermined second domain that is higher in voltage than the first domain. That is, when the power supply voltage is in the second domain that is higher in voltage than the first domain, a limitation is imposed on the switch to the fourth load state where a combined resistance value is the lowest among the first and fourth load states.

摘要: The invention provides a developing device employing a liquid developer which is capable of effectively cleaning a development roller or the like having an elastic outer layer. The developing device of the invention is provided with an elastic roller such as a development roller for developing a latent image formed on an image carrier. In image forming process, toner particles uniformly dispersed in carrier are agglutinated to the elastic roller side by means of compaction. A cleaning blade is provided for cleaning the agglutinated toner particles. Assuming that an angle of a contact face of the cleaning blade relative to a perpendicular line perpendicular to a generating line of the elastic roller at a contact point where the tip end of the cleaning blade is pressed against and in contact with the elastic roller is θ and an angle of a rising contour of a deformed portion of the elastic outer layer which is deformed by the pressure of the cleaning blade against the elastic roller relative to the perpendicular line is a, a relation a>θ is established.

摘要: An image forming apparatus configured to use a highly viscous, dense developing liquid including a carrier liquid and toner. The apparatus includes a developing unit with a developer carrier and a coating member for coating the developing liquid on the developer carrier. The developer carrier conveys the liquid to a developing zone where it faces an image carrier to develop a latent image on the image carrier. In the developing zone, the toner is caused to move toward the image by electrophoresis to form a toner layer in which the toner is present in the carrier liquid and a carrier layer in which the toner is absent. When the developer carrier and image carrier are moved from each other, the toner moves toward the image such that the developing liquid separates at the boundary between the toner and carrier layers.
