Abstract:
Color CRT having a rectangular panel with an outer surface with a radius of curvature greater than 30,000 mm, an inner surface with a fixed curvature, and a skirt extended substantially perpendicular to the inner and outer surfaces, and a funnel connected to a skirt seal edge part of the panel, to meet conditions of 0.18≦OAH/(USD/2)≦0.29, where USD denotes a diagonal effective screen size of the panel, OAH denotes a distance from a center of an outer surface to an extension plane of a skirt seal edge part, OMH denotes a distance from an outer surface molded match line of the panel to the skirt seal edge part, and OSH denotes a distance from the outer surface molded match line of the panel to a skirt brake line, thereby reducing a panel weight compared to the same size of tube for the same effective screen size, that reduces weights of components, resulting to reduce a flat CRT weight in overall, and reduces thermal breakage in a furnace, by adjusting correlations of OAH, OMH, and OSH of an outer surface of a panel.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a shadow mask for a color braun tube to reduce moire by improving a structure of a beam passage hole on a mask. According to a first embodiment, in a color braun tube including a mask having many beam passage holes over emitting paths of electron beams, a mask for the color braun tube has a vertical pitch of the beam passage holes that is 2.7 and more times as long as a vertical pitch of horizontal electron beam lines scanned on a screen. According to a second embodiment, in a color braun tube including a mask having many beam passage holes over emitting paths of electron beams, a mask for the color braun tube has a vertical pitch of the beam passage holes that is 3.4 and more times as long as a vertical pitch of horizontal electron beam lines scanned on a screen. According to a third embodiment, in a slot mask comprising beam passage holes whose length is shorter than a length of each beam passage hole in a grille mask and longer than a length of each beam passage hole in a dot mask and bridges connected to no-hole portions between the beam passage holes arranged in a vertical direction, a mask for a color braun tube has symmetrical left and right bridges by separating and isolating each of the bridges at its center, each of the left and right bridges covering a part of a fluorescent material including a black matrix.
Abstract:
A Braun tube for use in a TV receiver or the like, in which its screen does not need high resolution, but the brightness of the screen is important. The Braun tube has a panel with a flat outer surface, an electron gun arranged in an in-line manner and a phosphor screen whose phosphors are arranged in a delta pattern, and the horizontal pitch of a shadow mask can be varied in the direction of the Y-axis. The mechanical strength of the shadow mask is improved by making the curvature of the shadow mask larger than the curvature of the inner surface of the panel in the direction of the vertical axis of the screen.
Abstract:
A color cathode ray tube comprises (i) a glass bulb comprising a substantially rectangular panel, on which phosphors of a plurality of colors are arranged, a funnel that is connected to a rear side of the panel, and a neck portion formed at a rear side of the funnel, in which an in-line electron gun for emitting an electron beam is arranged; (ii) a substantially rectangular shadow mask having a plurality of apertures that are arranged in correspondence with the phosphors on the panel; and (iii) a substantially rectangular mask frame having a wall portion that supports opposing skirt portions of the shadow mask. The surface of the shadow mask with the apertures is convex towards the panel. A central portion of the opposing skirt portion is convex in a direction of the tube axis on the side of the electron gun. Processing warps such as wrinkles in the skirt portions of the shadow mask are avoided, and a color cathode ray tube with good color rendition is obtained.
Abstract:
A cathode ray tube capable of reducing a doming amount and suppressing an occurrence of moire stripes by providing protruding portions in a slot aperture of a tension type shadow mask. In a cathode ray tube including a mask frame formed in the form of a frame, and a shadow mask made of a flat plate containing a plurality of slot apertures, which is stretched and held onto the mask frame with a tension force applied in the longitudinal direction of the apertures, the shadow mask is provided with bridges linking the slot apertures arranged neighboring in the longitudinal direction, and the slot aperture is provided with protruding portions facing each other and protruding from the both ends in the lateral direction of the slot aperture into the inside of the slot aperture. Thus, it is possible to reduce the doming amount and to suppress an occurrence of moire stripes, while securing the mechanical strength and luminous intensity.
Abstract:
An elastic support member 5 or an elastic support member-holding plate is located substantially in the middle portion of a frame portion (1 and 2), and a shadow mask is constructed such that a tension in the middle portion of the shadow mask 3 is larger than the tension in the edge portions of the shadow mask 3. In another aspect, a plurality of elastic support members 5 are such that at least two elastic support members having substantially different spring constants are combined.
Abstract:
A tension mask for a color cathode-ray tube, a method for manufacturing the tension mask, and an exposure mask for use in the manufacture of the tension mask are provided. The tension mask is manufactured by depositing photosensitive layers over the top and bottom surfaces of a steel foil. An upper exposure mask with a pattern including a series of parallel upper light transmission portions arranged in lines is aligned over the top surface of the steel foil, and a lower exposure mask with a pattern is aligned over the bottom surface of the steel foil. Here, the pattern of the lower exposure mask includes a series of parallel lower light transmission portions arranged in lines, a plurality of first light shielding portions intersecting adjacent lower light transmission portions among the series of the parallel lower light transmission portions, and a plurality of second light shielding portions partially extending between the edges of the adjacent lower light transmission portions. Following this, the photosensitive layers uncovered with the lower and upper exposure masks are exposed using an exposure light source, and then the upper and lower exposure masks are removed from the steel foil and developing the photosensitive layers remaining on the steel foil. Lastly, the steel foil which has undergone the developing process is etched, so that the tension mask is completed.
Abstract:
A shadow mask is formed by press molding and includes a substantially rectangular mask effective portion in the form of a gently sloped dome having electron beam passage apertures and a skirt portion extending from the peripheral edge of the mask effective portion. The skirt portion has a plurality of apertures arranged parallel to the peripheral edge of the mask effective portion and spaced from one another and belt portions formed between the apertures and an extending end edge of the skirt portion and extending along the extending end edge. Each of the apertures is formed so that its width increases from the peripheral edge of the mask effective portion toward the extending end edge side of the skirt portion.
Abstract:
In color display tubes (1) with a dotted shadow mask (13) structure and an in-line electron gun (10), the geometry of the screen (6) and the deflection field produced by the deflection unit (11) cause triad rotation, which is a rotation of the three phosphor dots (red, green and blue) corresponding to one aperture of the shadow mask (13) with respect to the horizontal scan lines (35). This problem can be solved by giving the horizontal lines (35) a curved shape. However, in the prior art situation a parabolic shape is used, leading to severe moiré problems, because the vertical pitch asv (38) is influenced too strongly at the vertical screen edges. This problem can be overcome by using fourth order or even sixth order terms in the shape of the horizontal lines (35). A pure fourth order function reduces the vertical pitch asv 38 variation by 50% with respect to the parabolic prior-art situation, and a pure sixth order function even leads to a reduction by 67%.
