Abstract:
A shadow mask for a color cathode-ray tube including a first portion on which a plurality of electron beam through holes are formed; and a second portion on which no electron beam through holes are formed, the second portion surrounding the first surface portion, wherein each of the plurality of electron beam through holes includes an electron beam exit hole, each of the electron beam exit holes of electron beam through holes formed at a periphery of the fist portion near the second portion having a first length Dh in a direction facing away from the center of the shadow mask that is greater than a second length Dv perpendicular to the direction facing away from the center of the shadow mask. Therefore, a vibration generated on the shadow mask is attenuated within an elastic range of shadow mask, and thereby the shadow mask is able to endure an external shock and a permanent distortion to the shadow mask can be prevented to ensure color purity of the color cathode-ray tube.

A shadow mask in a color cathode ray tube is provided including a plurality of slots for passing electron beams therethrough, and a bridge between adjacent slots in a height direction, wherein a portion of the bridge is removed to combine a number of the slots, such that a removal area of the bridge is 1˜30% of an area of the bridge. In another aspect of the present invention, a shadow mask in a color cathode ray tube is provided including a plurality of slots for passing electron beams therethrough, and a bridge between adjacent slots in a height direction, wherein a portion of the bridge is removed to combine a number of the slots, such that an open width of the bridge is 1˜40% of a slot width.

A shadow mask is composed of an iron-based alloy plate containing 31.0-38.0 weight % of nickel and 1.0-6.5 weight % of cobalt. The iron-based alloy has a crystal grain size number of 10 or more and 12 or less, has a crystal grain size of 50 &mgr;m or less in a cross section in a direction parallel and normal to a rolling direction of the iron-based alloy plate, and has an average crystal grain size of 30 &mgr;m or less in a cross section in a direction parallel to the rolling direction of the iron-based alloy plate.
Abstract:
A color selecting apparatus for a cathode-ray tube including a frame, and a mask supported in the frame with tension along a minor axis, where the mask having a rectangular hole part formed with a plurality of electron beam-passing apertures, a non-hole part surrounding the hole part, and a pair of vibration attenuating members attached at both ends of the surface of the non-hole part, facing each other along a major axis, for attenuating vibration waves which transmit along the major axis. The vibration attenuating members are made of a metal having a greater mass than the non-hole part, and attached by spot-welding so that they are away from the non-hole part by a predetermined gap at every portion except the welding points. Therefore, the vibration attenuating members serve as a damper to attenuate vibrations which are transmit in the major direction, particularly vibrations generated by the speakers.
Abstract:
In a color cathode ray tube, a shadow mask has a shadow mask thin plate that includes Fe—Ni. The shadow mask thin plate has a volume ratio, FR of &ggr;-FIBER to a crystal face having {100} cube orientation between 0.5 and 5.0. The volume ratio, FR, is determined according to equations (1), (2) and (3): FR = f ( g ) γ - FIBER ValueMean f ( g ) { 100 } ( 1 ) f ( g ) γ - FIBER ValueMean = f ( g ) { 111 } + f ( g ) { 111 } + f ( g ) { 111 } 3 ( 2 ) f ( g ) { hkl } [ uvw ] = ⅆ V ( g ) { hkl } [ uvw ] / V ⅆ g { hkl } [ uvw ] ( 3 ) wherein g={hkl}[uvw], and V=volume fraction.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of attaching a tension mask to a frame to achieve desired tensions at a plurality of locations across the mask, wherein the frame has two opposite sides between which the mask is to be attached. Specific forces are applied from each of a plurality of separate actuators at positions, along each of the two opposite sides of the frame, that affect the mask tensions respectively at the plurality of locations across the mask. Each of the actuators is individually controlled to apply a specific force to a frame side that is directly related to the desired mask tension required at a particular mask location. While the specific forces are applied by the actuators, the mask is attached to the two opposite sides of the frame. Thereafter, the forces on the sides are released.
Abstract:
A stretched mask having a high tensile strength and favorable high-temperature creep properties and free from tape twist, and a material for the stretched mask. A low-carbon steel sheet containing 70 ppm to 170 ppm of nitrogen on a weight basis is heat-treated at a temperature at which recrystallization does not take place. The heat-treated material is provided with a resist pattern for forming apertures and subjected to etching to form apertures.
Abstract:
In order to prevent doming effect in a shadow mask of a color cathode ray tube caused by thermal expansion of the shadow mask structure produced by heating of the shadow mask due to impingement of the electron beam thereon, the shadow mask is provided with a skirt portion along at least one side thereof. The skirt portion includes a long projection portion where the shadow mask is welded to the frame, an adjacent inclined portion which decreases in length in a direction away from the projection portion. Further, a short portion is disposed therebetween the inclined portion. The inclined portion decreases in length linearly or non-linearly.
