Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a frame side plate. A mounting surface of the frame side plate on which a first electrical board is mounted has a frame protruding plate. An electrical box has a box protruding plate overlapping a side surface of the frame protruding plate when assembling of the electrical box to the frame side plate is completed, and engaging portions for assembling protruding in a thickness direction from the box protruding plate. When the electrical box is assembled to the frame side plate, with the engaging portions for assembling in engagement with first engaged portions formed on a protruding side end of the frame protruding plate, the electrical box as a whole is turned around an axis parallel to an extending direction of the frame protruding plate with the engaged portions as a fulcrum, thereby restricting a trajectory of the electrical box during assembling.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a body, a conveyance unit, an image carrier, a transfer unit, and a pre-transfer guide. The body has a sheet passage for conveying sheets along inner and outer conveyance surfaces mutually facing. The conveyance unit includes the outer conveyance surface and is supported pivotably between an open position and a closed position relative to the inner conveyance surface. The transfer unit rotatably supports a transfer roller. The pre-transfer guide includes a first guide on the outer conveyance surface and a second guide on the inner conveyance surface. The first guide has a contact segment protruding toward the second guide. The first guide and the transfer unit are supported independently swingably relative to the transfer unit. The first guide is urged toward the second, and the distance between the two guide surfaces is restricted by the contact segment touching a contacted portion.

Abstract: A developing device includes a developer container, a developer carrier, and first and second members for stirring/conveying. The developing container has a first partition wall between first and second chambers, communication portions through which those chambers communicate at opposite ends of the first partition wall, a developer supply port, and a developer discharge portion. The first member stirs and conveys developer in the first chamber in a first direction. The second member stirs and conveys developer in the second chamber in a second direction and includes a regulating portion and a discharging blade. The second partition wall is lower than the first partition wall, and an upper end part of the second partition wall is between upper and lower end parts of the rotary shaft of the second stirring/conveying member.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a developing roller, a photoconductor drum, a density detector, a current detector, and a controller. The developing roller carries a toner. The photoconductor drum carries a toner patch. The density detector detects toner density of the toner patch. The current detector detects developing current flowing to the toner patch. The controller calculates an inclination of an approximate straight line approximating a relation between the toner density and the developing current. The developing roller develops three or more toner patches, different in toner density and different in developing current from one another, on the photoconductor drum. The controller calculates the inclination, using different mathematical expressions depending on whether three toner patches or four toner patches are provided.
