Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a document table, a reading device, a communication line, a rail, and a transport mechanism. On the document table, a document is placed. The reading device reads the document placed on the document table, and outputs image data. The communication line is configured to electrically transmit the image data. The rail extends along a reading direction in which the reading device reads the document placed on the document table, the communication line being fixed to the rail. The transport mechanism transports the reading device along the rail, thereby transporting the reading device along a reading route through which the reading device reads the document placed on the document table. The transport mechanism electrically connects the reading device to the communication line.

Abstract: A raster image processor (RIP) system is used in a printing system to process a variety of different jobs. A front end receives the jobs and determines the job type. The job types include a print job, a preview job, and an estimation job. Depending on the type of job, the front end configures the RIPs within RIP system accordingly to process the job. The RIPs may process the job in parallel, with a high performance RIP processing the first page of the job. If the job is not processed in parallel, then the front end assigns the job to a very high performance RIP. The front end also assigns the preview job to a preview RIP and the estimation job to an estimation RIP. The front end configures RIPs as needed.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a toner cartridge that supplies toner to an image carrier. The toner cartridge includes a development unit that is connected to a toner container via a connection hole, and has an external opening for supplying the toner to the image carrier, an outer shutter that opens and closes the external opening, an inner shutter that opens and closes the connection hole, and a gear mechanism that connects the outer shutter and the inner shutter to be capable of interlocking with each other. When outer shutter is in a first closing position to close the external opening, the inner shutter is in a second closing position to close the connection hole. When the outer shutter is in a first opening position to open the external opening, the inner shutter is in a second opening position to open the connection hole.

Abstract: A roll paper supply device rolls out roll paper and cuts the rolled-out portion of the roll paper to produce a first sheet. Abstract: A printing device includes an inline inspection system using one or more sensors to determine defects on a printed sheet. The control unit, or other component connected to the printing device, determines a plurality of horizontal and vertical portions within one or more images on the sheet that are above a colorant value, or CMYK, threshold. A set of the plurality of horizontal and vertical portions are identified from the images on the sheet. The set of horizontal portions may differ from the set of vertical portions. The printed images of these portions are captured by the inline sensor. The captured data is analyzed to determine a defect within the printed sheet.

Abstract: A sheet ejection device includes an ejection roller pair, a stacking tray, a protrusion member and a movement mechanism. Abstract: A document conveying device according to the present disclosure includes a sheet feeding tray, a discharge tray, a feeding roller, a first lifting mechanism, a conveying mechanism, a support member and a second mechanism. On the sheet feeding tray, a document is stacked. The discharge tray is provided below the sheet feeding tray. The feeding roller feeds the document on the sheet feeding tray. The first lifting mechanism supports both end portions of the sheet feeding tray in a width direction intersecting a conveying direction of the document, and lifts and lowers the sheet feeding tray such that an upper surface of the document comes in contact with the feeding roller. The support member supports the sheet feeding feed tray on an upstream side of the first lifting mechanism in the conveying direction. The second lifting mechanism lifts and lowers the support member in synchronization with the sheet feeding tray.
