Abstract:
Disclosed herein are oral care compositions comprising a colorant blend comprising a triarylmethane green colorant and a naphthalene sulfonate yellow colorant in a weight ratio of from 2:1 to 1:2; and a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl alkene flavorant.
Abstract:
The present application provides a tooth anatomy model comprising: a first layer representing tooth dentin, said first layer being made of a first material; and a sensor system associated with a surface of the first layer, which system is adapted to sense at least one of temperature and air pressure. The present application also provides a method of demonstrating tooth hypersensitivity using a tooth anatomy model.
Abstract:
Provided is a multi-chamber container for dispensing flowable substances, comprising: a body having: a first storage chamber for storing a first flowable substance, a second storage chamber for storing a second flowable substance, a first inlet that fluidly connects the first storage chamber with a first outlet zone, a second inlet that fluidly connects the second storage chamber with a second outlet zone, a first member movable between a closed position, at which the first member seals the first inlet to isolate the first storage chamber from the first outlet zone, and an open position, at which the first storage chamber is in fluid communication with the first outlet zone, and a second member movable between a closed position, at which the second member seals the second inlet to isolate the second storage chamber from the second outlet zone, and an open position, at which the second storage chamber is in fluid communication with the second outlet zone; and a closure movable relative to the body between (a) a first position, at which the closure isolates the first and second outlet zones from an exterior of the container, and the first and second members are prevented from moving to their respective closed positions, and (b) a second position, at which the first and second outlet zones are in fluid communication with the exterior of the container, and the first and second members are moved to their respective closed positions.
Abstract:
Structured personal care compositions comprising a particle having an aspect ratio of greater than 1.5 are contemplated, as well as methods for using such compositions. The compositions provide a visually distinguishable, oriented pattern that is aesthetically pleasant to provide consumer appeal and product identification.
Abstract:
A method of forming a product array or a product array formed thereby. The method may include selecting a first oral care material having a first oral care benefit, mounting a first plurality of tooth cleaning elements comprising at least one first type of tooth cleaning element that provides the first oral care benefit to a first toothbrush, and forming a first oral care kit comprising the first oral care material and the first toothbrush. The method may also include selecting a second oral care material having a second oral care benefit that is different than the first oral care benefit, mounting a second plurality of tooth cleaning elements comprising at least one second type of tooth cleaning element that provides the second oral care benefit to a second toothbrush, and forming a second oral care kit comprising the second oral care material and the second toothbrush.
Abstract:
A powered toothbrush includes a handle, a power source disposed in the handle, a head including a cavity disposed at a distal end of the handle, an electrically conducting element disposed in the cavity and electrically connected to the power source, and a movable cleaning element connected to the head and movable relative to the cavity. The movable cleaning element includes a tooth cleaning support member, a tooth cleaning element mounted on the support member, and a ferromagnetic member. Application of an electrical current to the electrically conducting element generates a magnetic field at the electrically conducting element. The magnetic field selectively at least one of attracts and repels the ferromagnetic member to move the movable cleaning element relative to the electrically conducting element.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a dispenser for dispensing a flowable substance, comprising: a base having at least one contact portion lying in a first plane for stably standing the dispenser on a horizontal support surface; a holder movably connected to the base and lying in a second plane parallel to the first plane, the holder being for holding, in an inverted state, a container defining a chamber storing a flowable substance; and a conduit fluidly connecting the chamber with a discharge opening; wherein the holder is movable relative to the base to cause the flowable substance to be pumped from the chamber towards the discharge opening.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a toothbrush comprising an optical machine-readable representation of data, such as a barcode. Also disclosed is an oral care implement comprising a surface and a plurality of protrusions extending at least 1 millimeter from the surface, the protrusions at least partially defining an optical machine-readable representation of data, such as a barcode. Also disclosed is a system, comprising: an oral care implement comprising an optical machine-readable representation of data, such as a barcode; and a device comprising a processor and memory storing computer readable instructions for causing the processor to process an image of the optical machine-readable representation of data to extract the data from the image.
Abstract:
A method of detecting stannous ions that includes providing a zincon-containing indicator having a colour, contacting the indicator with a sample, and detecting any resulting change in the colour of the indicator, wherein a change in the colour of the indicator from the colour to colourless indicates that stannous ions are present in the sample. The method is useful for the analysis of oral care compositions. Also provided is the use of zinc on as an indicator for detecting stannous ions.
