摘要： A glossing device for imparting gloss to a toner image formed on a recording medium includes a plurality of rollers, a looped, endless belt, a pressure member, a belt cooler, and a belt retention mechanism. The plurality of rollers is disposed generally parallel to each other, and includes a heat roller subjected to heating. The looped, endless belt is entrained around the plurality of rollers for conveying the recording medium in a longitudinal, conveyance direction thereof. The pressure member is disposed opposite the heat roller to press against the heat roller via the belt to form a glossing nip therebetween, through which the recording medium passes. The belt cooler is disposed inside the loop of the belt to cool the belt during movement between the glossing nip and the separation position.

摘要： A glossing device includes a heater member, a stripper member, an endless rotary belt, a pressure member, and a belt cooler. The heater member is subjected to heating. The stripper member is disposed parallel to the heater member. The endless rotary belt is looped for rotation around the heater member and the stripper member in a longitudinal, conveyance direction of the belt. The pressure member is disposed opposite the heater member via the belt. The heater member and the pressure member press against each other via the belt to form a glossing nip therebetween. The recording medium after passage through the nip remains in contact with the belt as the belt moves from the heater member toward the stripper member, and separates from the belt as the belt passes around the stripper member. The belt cooler is disposed adjacent to the belt to cool the belt.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image forming mechanism and an image fixing unit. The image forming mechanism forms a toner image on a recording sheet. The image fixing unit fixes the toner image onto the recording sheet. The image fixing unit includes a magnetic flux generator, a heat member, a magnetic flux adjuster, and a controlling member. The magnetic flux generator generates a magnetic flux. The heat member is heated inductively by the magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generator. The magnetic flux adjuster reduces the magnetic flux active on the heat member to form a heat reduction area in an outer circumferential surface of the heat member in a width direction thereof. The controlling member moves the magnetic flux adjuster to change the heat reduction area.
