摘要： A method and system for extracting relevant information from content metadata is provided. User access to content is monitored. A set of extraction rules for information extraction is selected. Key information is extracted from metadata for the content based on the selected extraction rules. Additionally, a type for the content can be determined, and a set of extraction rules is selected based on the content type. The key information is used in queries for searching information of potential interest to the user, related to the content accessed.

摘要： A system and method in a network of devices, which ascertains the user's context to suggest the most preferred task for the user to perform. User's context includes his/her location, the content he/she is interested in, the devices which are being used by him/her, and the devices and content allowed to be used by the user. Using this context, the system suggests tasks to the user that are appropriate to that context. The determination of context and the suggestion of tasks are performed by keeping track of the content and the devices available to the user at any given time. The suggestion of tasks is performed in accordance with certain policies. For example, the user can control the behavior of the system by changing the rules in the policy. Tasks are in the form of simple sentences that can be easily understood by the user. If, based on certain context, more than one task is possible, the system suggests the task with the highest priority to the user.

摘要： Techniques for allocating individually executable portions of executable code for execution in an Elastic computing environment are disclosed. In an Elastic computing environment, scalable and dynamic external computing resources can be used in order to effectively extend the computing capabilities beyond that which can be provided by internal computing resources of a computing system or environment. Machine learning can be used to automatically determine whether to allocate each individual portion of executable code (e.g., a Weblet) for execution to either internal computing resources of a computing system (e.g., a computing device) or external resources of an dynamically scalable computing resource (e.g., a Cloud). By way of example, status and preference data can be used to train a supervised learning mechanism to allow a computing device to automatically allocate executable code to internal and external computing resources of an Elastic computing environment.

摘要： System and method for automatically rating the content of video media based on video operations performed on a media device and in reference to a plurality of rating rules are provided. Usage of the media device is continuously monitored and user actions with respect to operating the video media on the media device are automatically logged. Each rating rule includes a device usage pattern with respect to operating videos on the media device and a rating action indicating adjustments to content ratings of the videos based upon characteristics described by the device usage pattern that are inferred from the recorded user inputted video control operations. When the device usage pattern of a rating rule is inferred from one or more user actions operating a piece of video media directly on the media device, the content rating of the piece of video media is adjusted based on the rating rule.

This involves obtaining information about current user activity on the local network, obtaining contextual information about current user activity on the local network and obtaining additional information interrelated to the contextual information and the user activity information. Then correlations are identified between the additional information, the contextual information and the user activity information. The correlations are used in forming a query to search for information related to the current user activity, to provide to the user.

摘要： A dynamic, flexible and intuitive task-oriented graphical user interface (GUI) is implemented on network accessible hand-held mobile devices. A mobile hand-held device is characterized by limited screen size and fewer input keys compared to a keyboard. In a home network environment, such mobile hand-held devices act as remote control devices for home devices. Typical examples of such remote control device are universal remote control and cell phone. In one implementation the GUI provides techniques for displaying large amounts of data using a small screen. The GUI also presents a technique for making the user aware of current abstract available options and smoothly guiding his current intention into a task selection that the remote control can understand and execute on.

摘要： A task access system implements a methodology that facilitates one to explore and execute tasks possible in a network such as a home network environment. The system provides interfaces to access task information and supports several types of functionalities that help in customization of the task information based on the requesting user's state/context. The system supports composing a task request in different ways. It allows a task request to be composed and executed in an incremental fashion or at one-go, thus enabling user interface applications to be flexible. When a user requests to know the tasks available in the network, the system applies security policies and more user context information to customize and prioritize the tasks available for each user and ensures that the user interface application does not display tasks that are not executable by the user. Further, the system dynamically updates the user interface application based on the user input and any changes in the network environment, such as addition or removal of devices/services, thus ensuring only meaningful information is displayed to the user. In addition, the user is updated with the newly possible tasks and the ones no longer available. By dynamically updating the choices available for the user, the system effectively guides the user input.
