    Abstract: A system for braking rotational movement of at least one beam is disclosed. The system can comprise a frame and at least one beam rotatably supported on the frame. Each beam of the at least one beam can comprise at least one sheave groove on at least one longitudinal end. A rope can have a first end and a second end. Each of the first end and second end can be fixedly coupled to the frame. The rope can be received within a portion of at least one of the at least one sheave groove of each beam. A tensioning assembly can be configured to selectively cause a predetermined braking tension in the rope.

    Abstract: A tufted article can have a length along a first axis and width along a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis. The tufted article can comprise a backing and a plurality of tufts extending through the backing. The plurality of tufts can be distributed among a plurality of tuft sequences. Each tuft sequence can comprise at least one tuft of the plurality of tufts. The tufts of each tuft sequence can be formed sequentially by a single needle of a tufting machine. Each tuft sequence of the plurality of tuft sequences can be spaced from other tuft sequences of the plurality of tuft sequences along at least one of the first axis or the second axis. In some aspects, no tuft sequence of the plurality of tuft sequences extends across the entire length or the entire width of the backing.

    Abstract: Described herein is a process for correcting an observed color difference between a color at a first gloss and the color at a second gloss different than the first gloss, said process comprising the steps of: (a) determining a first correction caused by a lightness (Y-value) of the color a first gloss; (b) determining a second correction caused by an inclusion of a first surface diffusion in gloss readings; (c) based on the first and second corrections, determining a specular correction caused by a difference in specular reflections from the color at the first gloss and the color at the second gloss; (d) determining tristimulus corrections based on the specular correction; (e) preparing corrected tristimulus values of the color at a second gloss; and (f) producing a paint composition for the color at the second gloss using the corrected tristimulus values.

    Abstract: A girder tie for connecting a building component to a rigid rod to resist uplift forces applied to the building component comprises a connector including a building component connector and a rigid rod connector coupled to the building component connector. The rigid rod connector attaches to the rigid rod. The building component connector includes first and second back flanges free of direct connection to one another. The first and second back flanges can each be attached to the building component. A washer is disposed between the rigid rod connector and a nut on the rigid rod that secures the rigid rod to the girder tie. The washer includes at least one back flange brace to inhibit the first and second back flanges from moving relative to one another when the building component experiences the uplift forces.
