    Abstract: A method for making an artificial turf, the method comprising: providing a carrier (308) and an artificial turf fiber (501) incorporated into the carrier such that a first portion of the artificial turf fiber (506) protrudes to a back side of the carrier, a second portion of the artificial turf fiber (302) protrudes to a front side of the carrier, and a third portion of the artificial turf fiber (504) is inside the carrier; preparing a polyurethane (PU) foam reaction mixture (210) containing a reactive foam stabilizer (RFS), applying the PU foam reaction mixture on the back side of the carrier (308) to cover the artificial turf fiber (506) protruding to the back side of the carrier (308) and hardening the PU foam reaction mixture to form a flexible PU backing securing the turf fiber in place.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a system for manufacturing an artificial turf, including: a dielectric barrier discharge device including a first electrode and a second electrode; a conveyor unit configured for moving a carrier mesh through an air gap formed between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the carrier mesh includes a backside, and wherein the carrier mesh includes fibers integrated such that a portion of the fibers are exposed on the backside; a control unit configured to control the dielectric barrier discharge device to apply a dielectric barrier discharge to the backside of the carrier mesh as the carrier mesh moves through the air gap for plasma-activating the backside; and a dispensing unit configured to apply a backing layer to the plasma-activated backside of the carrier mesh for providing the artificial turf.

    Abstract: An artificial turf system includes a turf assembly having a turf backing and stands of artificial grass blades extending from the turf backing to form an artificial turf layer. Infill material is placed in between the blades of artificial grass and on top of the turf backing. The infill material has a composition of sand in an amount within the range of from about 80 to about 98 percent of the infill by dry bulk weight, and organic particles in an amount within the range of from about 2 to about 20 percent of the infill by dry bulk weight.

    Abstract: An artificial turf having a seam that approximates a sine wave, preferably a wave with a peak-to-peak distance of twelve inches and an amplitude of 1.4375 inches according to a preferred algorithm to form a wave that is repeated continuously along the length of the turf, producing a scalloped edge. An equation is provided to specify the exact measurements and the application to the turf edge, providing a precise choice of amplitude and periodicity to match the turf beds. The use of the sine seam is virtually invisible, creating a contiguous turf surface. The precision cut allows the turf fibers to perfectly eliminate any visible junction between pieces.

    Abstract: A removable artificial turf panel system with an artificial turf panel that has a plurality of upstanding ribbons extending from a backing layer. An infill layer is interspersed between the upstanding ribbons on the backing layer. The outside of the backing layer may be provided with one of a magnet and a ferromagnetic material. The magnet/ferromagnetic material cooperates with a corresponding magnet/ferromagnetic material disposed in a channel on a layer of elastomeric material that supports the artificial turf panel. Accordingly, an artificial turf panel can be removably attached to a section of elastomeric material on an artificial turf playing surface.
