Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for employing private email content in an email message are disclosed. Embodiments include hardware and/or software for identifying an instance of private content in an email message, associating the instance with a recipient, and generating emails for each recipient, wherein the emails are redacted to display the email message with the instance when routed to a recipient associated with the instance and to exclude the instance when routed to a recipient that is not associated with the instance. Private content may include text in the body of an email that is identified by the user as being content for less than all of the recipients. In particular, a user may compose a message that contains text, some of which includes private content, and address the email to multiple recipients. The user may then associate one or more of the recipients with each separately identified instance of the private content so that recipients see the text that the user intends them to see.

Abstract: An apparatus extracts a predetermined set of information from each of a plurality of sales receipts, including a first and second sales receipt corresponding to first and second transactions with first and second vendors respectively. The apparatus provides the extracted information to a data processing system. The first transaction may represent a sale of goods while the second transaction represents a sale of services wherein the predetermined set of information for goods and services transactions is the same. The predetermined set of information may include vendor identification information and at least one instance of product identification information. The apparatus may access a database using the vendor identification and product identification information to retrieve a description of the corresponding product. The predetermined set of information may include a receipt serial number wherein the device uses the serial number to retrieve information about the corresponding transaction from a sales receipt database.
