Example systems and methods for managing resources in broadband networks are disclosed. An example method for configuring a port of a digital subscriber line access multiplexor (DSLAM), the method including obtaining from a pre-defined configuration for the port a parameter indicating that a customer line termination port card is to be installed in the port, querying the DSLAM to determine a configuration state of the port, configuring the DSLAM with the parameter for the port when the port has not been configured, and reconfiguring the DSLAM with the parameter for the port when the port is incorrectly configured for a network line termination port card.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for processing data in association with an operation performed by a technician at a customer service location in a telecommunications system. In one embodiment, the method includes transmitting data related to at least one piece of existing telecommunications equipment being used in connection with the special service at the customer service location; communicating at least one alternative candidate for the existing telecommunications equipment through at least one graphical user interface to the technician at the customer service location; and, generating change data including at least one new candidate selected from a group of the alternative candidates for replacement of the existing telecommunications equipment at the customer service location. Computer-readable media embodiments of the present methods are also provided.

Abstract:
String Instrument Stand with an L shaped bracket having a centrally located clevis joint, a hinged flat stand member and a retaining clip. The L shaped member being fixedly retained by the screw and strap button normally found at the base of stringed instruments. The hinged flat stand member being held in place by a hinge pin and being retained in an open position by the retaining clip. A preferred embodiment includes the flat stand member nesting close to the back of stringed instrument so that instrument can be played while instrument stand is affixed.

A process for further chemical activation of activated carbon is disclosed comprising activation of an active carbon precursor material with a potassium hydroxide solution, pre-drying the blend to 5% to 15% moisture content, activating this blend at from about 650.degree. to about 1100.degree. C., and acid washing and drying the microporous activated carbon product, which is characterized by greater than 50% of its total pore volume comprising pores of from about 8.ANG. to 20.ANG. in width and greater than 70% of its total pore volume comprising pores of less than 20.ANG. in width and greater than 95% of its total pore volume comprising pores of less than 50.ANG. in width.
Abstract:
A support belt to be worn around the waist of a person includes an elongated strip of rigid material constructed of a low density material such as polyethylene. The elongated strip of rigid material includes a center portion and a pair of ends. The elongated strip of rigid material is sized and shaped so as to encircle the waist of the person with the center portion positioned against the back of the person and the pair of ends positioned against the front of the person, the pair of ends being releasably fastenable together to secure the support belt around the waist of the person. The center portion of the elongated strip of rigid material is shaped to define an angle of lordosis of approximately 15 degrees in the lumbar spinal region. The elongated strip of rigid material includes a plurality of inwardly curved sections sized and shaped so as to urge against the iliac crests of the person.

Extruded pellets comprising a majority of activated carbon particles and an organic binder provide improved performance when processed through tumbling equipment while the pellets are in their "green" state, i.e., pellets which are fresh off the extruder and contain activated carbon, binder, and water and have not been subjected to any thermal processing (drying). The tumbling action both smoothes the pellets (by closing any cracks and greatly improving appearance) and increases the density of the packed bed, e.g., by increasing particle density and reducing voids between the pellets. Improved performance results from an ability to increase the weight of carbon pellets which can be packed into a fixed volume and thereby increase the volumetric working capacity of the bed for adsorbing/desorbing vapors. Another benefit is to greatly reduce the levels of dust associated with the carbon, both the initial dust and the dust attrition.
