摘要： Drill bits with at least two roller cones of different diameters and/or utilizing different cutter pitches in order to reduce bit tracking during drilling operations are described. In particular, earth boring drill bits are provided, the bits having two or more roller cones, and optionally one or more cutter blades, the bits being arranged for reducing tracking by the roller cone teeth during operation by adjusting the teeth spacing, cone pitch angle, and/or the diameter of one or more of the cones. These configurations enable anti-tracking behavior and enhanced drilling efficiency during bit operation.

摘要： An earth boring drill bit comprising a milled cutter having rows of hardfacing guides on the cutter. Hardfacing is applied between adjacent hardfacing guides to form a hardfacing web that serves as a cutting element. The hardfacing web defines an interface between the hardfacing web and the hardfacing guide. The hardfacing web may extend past the crest of the hardfacing guides or end along the hardfacing guides flanks. Projecting hardfacing is provided on the interface to form trimmers.

At least one fixed blade cutter may be asymmetrically coupled about the axis. The cutting diameter of the fixed blade cutter cutting profile and the cutting diameter of the rolling cutter cutting profile may collectively define a gage diameter. At least a portion of the fixed blade cutter cutting profile may be deeper than the rolling cutter cutting profile.

摘要： An earth-boring bit has at least one steel tooth with a scoop-shaped profile. The scoop-shaped profile is formed by milling and hardfacing a tooth to have at least one flank with a concave profile. Additionally, the tooth may contain one flank with a concave profile and another with a convex profile. The centerline axis of the tooth may be moved to alter the angle between the flanks and the centerline to vary the manner in which the tooth engages the formation.

摘要： An earth boring bit has three cones, each cone being mounted for rotation about a cone axis while the bit rotates about a bit axis. An outer row and an adjacent row of cutting elements are integrally formed on each of the cones. Each of the cutting elements of the adjacent row on each of the cones has a crest extending perpendicular to a direction of rotation of the cone. Annular spaces are located between the outer row and the adjacent row on each of the cones. The annular space on one cone has a width that is less than the annular spaces on the other cones. The width of the narrowest annular space is greater than the width of the crests of the adjacent row.

摘要： The harmful effects of tracking are reduced for a drill bit having roller cones with at least one of the outermost rows of active teeth containing one or more teeth having a height that does not extend to the height of at least one of the outermost rows on another roller cone on the bit. The crest on this tooth may have a length in a circumferential direction that is wider than an overall width of the tooth in the outer to inner direction. The invention may be used on any cutter row, not just the outermost row. The design may be used on a different roller cone or row, or more than one cutter row. The anti-tracking feature may be located between the leading and trailing edges of the tooth on one or more roller cones.
