Abstract:
Generally, this disclosure describes a method and system for peer-based collaborative discovery and signaling of another device in limited signal areas. A method may include, in an embodiment, initiating a sensing mode in a seek mobile device in response to receiving an indication that a location of a lost mobile device is unknown; capturing first position data if a signal from the lost device is detected; capturing second position data in response to losing the signal from the lost device; and determining an estimated location of the lost device based on the first position data and the second position data, wherein the lost device is located in an area of limited or no connectivity and the seek device is moving through the area.
Abstract:
Methods and systems may involve receiving metadata associated with an activity of a user with respect to a first device, and capturing discovery content from one or more media sources based on the metadata. In addition, the discovery content and the metadata may be presented to the user via a second device.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, the invention involves context based search engine using a user selected term within a media experience. A natural language processor module is configured to provide context based keywords related to the search term and from within the media experience. In some embodiments, a proximity based statistical analysis is used to derive the keywords. The keywords are provided to at least one content browser or other search engine(s) to effect the search. In some embodiments, a machine learning module is communicatively coupled to the natural language processer to further refine the context for selecting relevant keywords. The context search engine, natural language processor module, machine learning module and search engine may reside on the same computing device or be distributed among a variety of local, remote and cloud devices for processing. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A touchscreen-based user interface that allows the user to perform information searching on a mobile information appliance, such as a tablet computer or smart phone. By moving one or two fingers in appropriate direction(s) across the touchscreen, a search may be specified. Moreover, by using the appropriate gestures, a search may be broadened or narrowed by specifying additional search terms. This may be performed iteratively to allow the user to discover information, at various times narrowing or broadening a search.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for a location metadata system are disclosed. A data storage subsystem stores collected data associated with locations and users. A network interface is coupled to the data storage subsystem. The network interface manages communication with devices of users to collect data associated with the locations and users. A data analysis system includes a processor adapted for obtaining the collected data from the data storage subsystem and for analyzing the collected data to create a first location identity associated with interaction of users with a first location.
Abstract:
A system and method includes obtaining reviews from an electronic commerce site, generating statistics via a specifically programmed machine regarding the reviews by reviewers, identifying reviewers via the machine having statistics indicative of a compensated reviewer, generating scores via the machine for the reviewers indicative of a probability that each reviewer is a compensated reviewer. The method may further or alternatively include monitoring user interactions via a specifically programmed machine with electronic commerce generated content with respect to reviews of products, and providing a reviewer score via the machine responsive to such user interactions, wherein the score is representative of the probability that a reviewer generating the score is compensated with respect to providing reviews.
Abstract:
In one example embodiment, a program navigation system involves a television (TV) set (or other audio/visual presentation device) and a mobile device. While the TV set is playing an audio/visual program, a keyword recognition module may extract keywords from textual data associated with the program. The textual data may include textual words that match words spoken in the program. Time markers for the keywords may also be saved. A time marker may indicate a play time within the program for the corresponding keyword. The TV set may automatically transmit the keywords to the mobile device, and the mobile device may automatically display the keywords in a user interface. A user may then select one of the keywords. In response, the mobile device may automatically cause the TV set to jump to a portion of the program containing the selected keyword. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A system for broadcasting enhanced television content may provide for early notification of web hosting facilities when uniform resource locators may be broadcast with television content. When uniform resource locators are broadcast with television content, a large number of users may attempt to simultaneously access the hosting web site for the uniform resource locator. By providing early warning through the television broadcast system, the web servers which handle the load of attempted web accesses may gear up for the load spike. Through an automatic system, a relatively failsafe procedure may be implemented to ensure that the web hosting facilities receive notice sufficient to enable them to prepare for the onslaught of attempted accesses.
Abstract:
On-line transactions may be managed between an on-line transaction service and a product vendor inventory management system by providing allocations of dedicated inventory from the system to the service. The service then may complete on-line transactions against the allocation without needing to contact the service to authorize each transaction. This may speed up the rate at which on-line transactions are completed and increase the number of transactions that can be completed by the on-line transaction service.
