Abstract:
Apparatus and method of providing transparent relay service to a Mobile Station (MS) in a multihop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system. The communication method includes checking, at at least one relay station (RS), a sounding channel allocated to an MS by analyzing a message broadcast from a Base Station (BS); measuring, at the BS, an BS-MS signaling level using a sounding signal of the MS, the sounding signal received in the sounding channel; measuring, at the at least one RS, an RS-MS signaling level using a sounding signal of the MS, the sounding signal received in the sounding channel; reporting, at the at least one RS, the RS-MS signaling level measurement value to the BS; and selecting, at the BS, an RS suitable for the MS using the BS-MS signaling level measurement value and at least one RS-MS signaling level measurement value reported from the at least one RS. Accordingly, the BS can select a suitable RS for the MS by taking into account the RS-MS channel status.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method of controlling an action change gap interval in a multi-hop relay cellular network, includes constructing a first symbol included in a first frame as a first interval for a first action change and a second interval for exchanging data; and constructing a last symbol included in the first frame as a first interval for exchanging data and a second interval for a second action change. Accordingly, the system capacity and the system efficiency can be raised by reducing the overhead due to the action change gap in the cellular network.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting a signal in a communication system using a low density parity check (LDPC) code. An LDPC codeword is generated by encoding an information word at a coding rate. A puncturing pattern is generated when a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is an incremental redundancy (IR) scheme. An additional pattern is generated when the HARQ scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is a partial chase combining (CC) scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the puncturing pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the IR scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the additional pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the partial CC scheme.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing neighbor node information in a cellular communication system. In the method, a Base Station (BS) generates and transmits a neighbor advertisement message including neighbor base station BS information and neighbor Relay Station (RS) information. A node discriminatively processes the neighbor BS information and the neighbor RS information that are included in the neighbor advertisement message received from the BS. Therefore, when the neighbor advertisement message including the neighbor BS information and the neighbor RS information is broadcast, each node can extract and process necessary neighbor node information efficiently.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for configuring a subframe to support multiple links by grouping multiple hops in a multi-hop relay cellular network are provided. A BS collects information about RSs forming relay links to a destination and groups the relay links according to the collected RS information. The BS allocates different resources to the relay link groups and sends information about the allocated resources to the RSs.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for supporting multiple links in a multi-hop relay cellular network using at least two frequency bands are provided. A subframe for a link on which a Mobile Station (MS) or a Relay Station (RS) communicates with a Base Station (BS) is configured in a first frequency band, and a subframe for a link on which the BS or the RS communicates with the MS is configured in a second frequency band.
Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and method for managing connection identifiers (CIDs) in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system. An apparatus is provided for a Relay Station (RS) in a multi-hop relay cellular communication system. The apparatus includes a database, a controller, and a transmitter. The database is used for managing a Connection Identifier (CID) set assigned to the RS by a Base Station (BS). The controller accesses the database to assign one CID of the CID set to a Mobile Station (MS) when receiving a control message from the MS. The transmitter constructs a response message including the CID assigned to the MS and transmits the response message to the MS. The MS can be assigned a CID directly from the RS in a condition that the BS is not involved, so that the initial ranging procedure can be rapidly performed.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus and method for relaying Ranging messages in a multi-hop relay BWA system. A RS receives a Ranging Request message from an MS, reconfigures the received Ranging Request message into a Relay Ranging Request message, and transmits the Relay Ranging Request message to a serving BS. Thereafter, the RS receives a Relay Ranging Response message from the serving BS, reconfigures the Relay Ranging Response message into a Ranging Response message, and transmits the Ranging Response message to the MS.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and system for link state report in order to select an optimum route in a wireless communication system which includes a mobile station, a base station for providing a service to the mobile station, and one or more relay stations for relaying information between the base station and the mobile station. The method includes: detecting a physical channel from the base station and measuring a link state of a link with the base station based on the detected physical channel, and inserting information of the measured link state into a message and broadcasting the message through a wireless channel.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for negotiating RS capability in a multi-hop relay cellular communication system are provided. In the RS capability negotiating method, a node configures a first message including first relay capability information indicating if the node supports an RS capability and sends the first message to a BS. The BS determines whether to select the node as an RS according to the first message, configures a second message including second relay capability information indicating if the node is selected as the RS according to the determination, and sends the second message to the node by the BS. The node operates as an RS or as a general node according to the second relay capability information of the second message.
