Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a received channel-encoded data block having information bits, a transmitted error-check value, and redundant code bits. The redundant code bits correspond to a channel code applied to the received channel-encoded data block prior to transmission via a communication channel. A channel code type is identified and responsive to it being systematic, the information bits and the transmitted error-check value are obtained without decoding according to the channel code. The received channel-encoded data block is checked according to the transmitted error-check value to obtain a result. Responsive to the result not indicating an error, extracting the information bits without decoding the received channel-encoded data block according to the channel code. Responsive to the result indicating an error, decoding the received channel-encoded data block according to the channel code to obtain decoded information bits. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Consequently, the subset of the beams or another subset of the subset of the beams can be utilized for the communication transmission based on the signal quality of the beams.

Abstract: A low complexity multiple input multiple output transmitter that transmits a single codeword per channel is disclosed herein. Instead of sending multiple codewords per channel for transmissions that support higher data layer transmissions, the transmitter can send single codewords over multiple channels in order to improve spectral efficiency over a range of signal to interference plus noise ratios. For instance, if a downlink transmission to a user equipment (UE) has a rank of 4, capable of supporting 4 data layers, instead of sending 2 or more codewords over a single downlink control channel, the transmitter can schedule multiple control channels and transmit a single codeword per channel. The transmitter can also include in the signaling to the UE that the multi-codewords are included in multiple downlink control channels.

Abstract: Asynchronous multi-point transmission techniques for MIMO networks are provided. An example method comprises receiving, by a device comprising a processor, a first data signal from a first TP device of a wireless communication network, wherein the first data signal comprises first code-word information generated based on a data. The method further comprises receiving, by the device, a second data signal from a second TP device of the wireless communication network, wherein the second data signal comprises second code-word generated based on the data, wherein the first code-word information and the second-code word information are different, and wherein the first TP device and the second TP device are geographically separated by a threshold distance. The device can further process the first data signal and the second data signal to generate a unified data signal representative of the data.

Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards indicating to a receiver (e.g., a user equipment) which antenna ports are assigned for channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS). The indicator can be sent as radio resource control configuration data and/or by physical layer signaling such as in downlink control information. The receiver computes CSI based on the assigned antenna port or ports, and the reported (e.g., joint) CSI helps avoid mismatched joint CSI used for scheduling when multiple transmit and receive points (TRPs) are communicating with the user equipment.

Abstract: A closed loop carrier sense multiple access multiuser request to send and clear to send handshaking system is provided to efficiently allocate licensed and unlicensed spectrum for a plurality of mobile devices and across different base stations and mobile network operators. A user equipment device can be connected to a base station device via a first frequency in licensed spectrum, and a second frequency in unlicensed spectrum. The air interface on the first frequency can then be used to coordinate physical and virtual carrier sensing on a second frequency among a plurality of user equipment devices. Moreover, carrier sensing results from a plurality of UEs can be reported a base station device via the first frequency in licensed spectrum. The base station device can then schedule multiple user multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmissions to a plurality of UEs on the second frequency in unlicensed spectrum.

Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to employing modulation layer mapping to improve the performance of multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. In one embodiment, a method comprises determining, by a device comprising a processor, codeword information in association with establishment of a wireless communication link with a network device of a wireless communication network, wherein the device and the network device are configured to communicate via the communication link using a MIMO communication scheme. The determining the codeword information comprises determining a code rate and determining a number of modulation indexes for the code rate based on signal-to-noise ratios respectively associated with channel layers included in the MIMO communication scheme. The method further comprises sending, by the device, the codeword information to the network device via a control channel of the wireless communication link.

Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards adapting the demodulation reference signal sent in a wireless resource data block based on channel estimation performance. In general, if the demodulation reference signal received was not successfully able to be used to demodulate the resource data block, the demodulation reference signal density can be increased up to a maximum density, which costs resource elements but improves the channel estimation accuracy. If the demodulation reference signal received was able to be used to demodulate the resource data block, the demodulation reference signal density can be decreased down to minimum density, which saves resource elements for data. The network device can use HARQ ACK/NACK data (e.g., a current count or counted over a time period) to determine channel estimation performance, and/or the user equipment can recommend a demodulation reference signal density change.

Abstract: Systems and methods for computing channel state information in a 5G wireless communication system in 4G spectrum frequencies is described herein. A method as described herein includes determining, by network equipment comprising a processor, that a cell in which the network equipment operates is configured for coexistence between new radio signals and long term evolution signals based on a starting symbol location for non-user equipment specific control signaling received from the cell relative to a frame boundary; predicting, by the network equipment in response to the determining that the cell is configured for the coexistence, long term evolution resource overhead data associated with the long term evolution signals; and determining, by the network equipment, channel state information reference resources at least in part by removing the long term evolution resource overhead data from channel state information computation data.
