摘要: The invention provides a method and apparatus for manufacturing a liquid container having an enclosed space within an inner wall of the liquid container, the enclosed space filled with a plurality of porous members. The plurality of porous members include a plurality of inner porous members and a plurality of outer porous members. The method includes the step of packing the porous members into the enclosed space so that the inner porous members only contact and press against other inner porous members and/or outer porous members, and the outer porous members contact and press against the inner porous members and the inner wall of the liquid container. The method also comprises a step of compressing the porous members. The apparatus has compressing means for compressing the porous members and packing means for packing the porous members into the liquid container. The invention aims to reduce an amount of non-dischargeable liquid contained by the liquid container by packing porous members into the liquid container with a desired compression distribution. The invention also aims to allow the same kind of porous members to be suitably packed into containers that store liquids having different surface tensions, or containers having different capacities or shapes.

摘要: A recording ink container having an air vent valve including a supporting means with a first opening, a first thin film with a second opening for covering the first opening, a second thin film for covering the second opening, and sealing means between the thin films. The valve functions to release air from the container through the first opening, and to permit the introduction of air into the container through the second opening with pressures of predetermined levels.

摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus records information by ejecting ink droplets onto a recording medium. The ink jet recording apparatus has a recording head; driving circuits, measuring circuit, and a judging unit. The recording head has ejection outlets and ink liquid passages connecting to the ejection outlets respectively, an electro-thermal converting element being disposed in each of the ink liquid passages, for generating thermal energy for ejecting the ink droplets. The driving circuits drive the electro-thermal converting element to generate the thermal energy enough to eject the ink droplet. The measuring circuit individually measures a resistance value of the electro-thermal converting element when the driving circuits drive the electro-thermal converting element. The judging unit judges presence of an abnormal state in the ink liquid passage according to the resistance value.

摘要: An ink tank capable of optically detecting ink remaining in an ink accommodation chamber with high precision is provided. A printing apparatus, a method of manufacturing the ink tank, and a method of detecting ink remaining in the ink tank are also provided. Radiated light (11) projected into an ink accommodation chamber (5A) excites an illuminant material (10) contained in ink in the ink accommodation chamber (5A) to illuminate. Based on light (12) produced by the illuminant material (10), the amount of ink remaining in the ink accommodation chamber (5A) is detected.

摘要: Multiple grooves are formed along an inclination face of a prism-like part. A pitch of the grooves is smaller than the wavelength of light, specifically infrared light, used as a light source for detecting an ink amount. When sufficient amount of contained ink is consumed to expose the prism-like part, ink on the inclination face is held in the grooves due to their capillary force. At this time, if an amount of the ink exceeds the capacities of the grooves, no capillary force acts on the excessive ink. Accordingly, the excessive ink becomes an ink pool and slides down to an ink surface. Since the face provided with the grooves at the pitch smaller than the wavelength of the detection light source serves as a plane face optically, detection with high reliability is made possible.
