Abstract: Provided is a display capable of displaying augmented reality (AR) in which background visibility is maintained and a hotspot is not visible. The display includes, at least: a transparent screen; a projection device for projecting a projection image on the transparent screen; and a sheet-shaped light guide plate for guiding the projection image, in which the projection device is disposed so that light of the projection image is incident from an end portion of the light guide plate, and the transparent screen is attached to at least one of main surfaces of the light guide plate.

Abstract: An object is to provide an optical element that is thin and can gather and reflect light in a specific wavelength range in a predetermined direction, and a sensor including the above-described optical element. The optical element includes a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, in which the cholesteric liquid crystal layer has a liquid crystal alignment pattern in which a direction of an optical axis derived from a liquid crystal compound changes while continuously rotating in at least one in-plane direction, and in a case where a length over which the direction of the optical axis rotates by 180° in the in-plane direction in which the direction of the optical axis changes while continuously rotating is set as a single period, the cholesteric liquid crystal layer has in-plane regions having different lengths of the single periods in the liquid crystal alignment pattern.

Abstract: A patterned phase difference film has an optically anisotropic layer alternately having a first phase difference region and a second phase difference region, in which the first phase difference region and the second phase difference region contain rod-like liquid crystals or discotic liquid crystals in the form of a hybrid alignment with mutually opposite rising directions of tilt angles, and has a hybrid alignment in which directions of in-plane slow axes and absolute values of in-plane phase differences of the first phase difference region and the second phase difference region are equal in a range of 54 to 74 nm, and in each of the first phase difference region and the second phase difference region, one of an absolute value of a phase difference at a polar angle of 40° and an absolute value of a phase difference at a polar angle of −40° is 135 to 353 nm and the other is 8 to 28 nm.

An optical sheet of the present invention includes a substrate; and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer on the substrate, in which the entire cholesteric liquid crystal layer is surrounded by an imaginary contour line, the cholesteric liquid crystal layer has a uniform region and a modulation region that is located between the uniform region and at least a part of the imaginary contour line, a shortest distance between the imaginary contour line and the uniform region is 10 mm or longer, and a reflectance of the modulation region monotonously decreases from the uniform region side toward the imaginary contour line side.

Abstract: Provided is a member for displaying a projected image, including: a first base material; a second base material; and an optical member, in which at least one optical member is disposed on a surface of the first base material or the second base material, the optical member includes a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystal dots, the cholesteric liquid crystal dot is formed of a liquid crystal material having a cholesteric structure, the cholesteric structure imparts a striped pattern formed of bright portions and dark portions in a cross-sectional image of the cholesteric liquid crystal dot taken by a scanning electron microscope in a direction perpendicular to a substrate, the dot includes a portion where the height thereof successively increases to the maximum height thereof from an end portion toward the center thereof, an angle between a normal line with respect to a line formed by the first dark portion from the surface of the dot on a side opposite to the substrate and a line representing the surface of the is in a range of 70° to 90° in this portion of the cross-sectional image, and a reflection center wavelength of the dot is in a range of 400 to 1000 nm.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a backlight that emits unpolarized blue light, a reflective polarizing layer which is provided on an emission side of the backlight and converts blue light to linearly polarized light, a quantum rod layer which is provided on a blue linearly polarized light emission side of the reflective polarizing layer and converts blue linearly polarized light to red linearly polarized light and green linearly polarized light using multiple quantum rods, and a liquid crystal panel disposed on a red linearly polarized light and green linearly polarized light emission side. In the quantum rod layer, a polarization direction of the blue linearly polarized light emitted from the reflective polarizing layer and a long axis direction of the quantum rods are parallel to each other.
