摘要： A system and related techniques automatically exercise the output capabilities of a printer or other output device, and return a log or record of those capabilities to the print manager of a host operating system or other destination. According to embodiments, the host, client or other machine may decide to query a printer, facsimile machine, copy or multifunction machine or other device to determine its range of output capabilities such as available fonts, graphical or rending routines, firmware compatibility or other functions or capabilities. The host may transmit a composite electronic document, containing various components including intermediate language objects which may be interpreted to execute various output processing, such as exercising a set of fonts, scaling, rotating, or other rendering or output functions. The results may be captured in the printer or other output device, for instance by dumping an output buffer or returning execution codes, and returned to the host machine where the available capabilities may be displayed, including in embodiments a rendering of the physical output or simulated physical output on the user interface. The invention offers enhanced profiling and verification for printers and other output systems, compared to manual test pages and other test procedures.

摘要： A system and method for image acquisition enables selective automated application of color management to color image data generated by an image-capturing device by the device driver for the device. In the image acquisition system, each image-capturing device has properties or operation parameters that can be set to control the operation of the device. During an image acquisition operation, color image data generated by the image-capturing device are transmitted to the device driver. If the operation parameters of the device are set to indicate that color management is to be performed, the device driver calls color management functions provided by the operating system to perform the desired color operation, such as a color space conversion, on the received color image data. The processed color image data are then sent to the image-processing application for further processing or editing.

摘要： The disclosed method diminishes the resolution or the perceived resolution of images and compares the images to evaluate the color image quality of images. The method determines how far away images have to be or how much the resolution needs to be reduced for the images to be perceived as the same. A smaller viewing distance or a lower reduction in resolution corresponds to a closer similarity between the images. A relatively longer viewing distance or a greater reduction in resolution where the visual difference becomes unperceivable is indicative of a large difference between the images.

A three dimensional representation of a device color gamut can be displayed and modified by a user, and an input image that is being processed by the color management operations is displayed and modified dynamically in response to user specific adjustments.

摘要： A surgical stapler having a selectively bendable end effector is provided. A staple holding jaw of the end effector is coupled to another jaw for grasping tissue to be stapled. The stapler can adapted to drive staples into tissue having a pattern conforming with the selected shape of the end effector. In particular, the end effector can be adapted to drive staples in a linear pattern when the end effector orients staples in a substantially linear configuration. The end effector can also be adapted to drive staples in a non linear pattern when the end effector orients staples in a non linear configuration. Methods of stapling tissue with a stapler having a bendable end effector are also discussed.
