Abstract: Devices, systems and/or methods for fixating soft tissue to bone are provided. In one embodiment, a repair device for fixating soft tissue to bone with a bone anchor includes a soft tissue anchor and one or more flexible members. The soft tissue anchor includes a base with multiple legs extending from the base. The one or more flexible members are coupled to the base and configured to extend from the base to the bone anchor with a fixed length. With this arrangement, the fixed length of the one or more flexible members is configured to maintain a substantially fixed pre-determined distance between the soft tissue anchor and the bone anchor such that, as the bone anchor is seated into bone, the one or more flexible members pulls the soft tissue anchor down against the soft tissue to fixate the soft tissue to the bone.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of tissue dissection. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to medical devices that lift and retract tissue during a dissection procedure to improve visualization of the target tissue and mitigate obstructions for dissection tools. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices that transition from a constrained to an unconstrained bowed configuration to immobilize and retract the dissected portion of target tissue during a dissection procedure.

Abstract: A staple apparatus can include a base member substantially coplanar to a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The base member can include a trapezoidal shape including two substantially equal length sides and two unequal length sides, the two unequal length sides comprising a first side and a second side with the first side being shorter than the second side and the first side being parallel with the second side on the first axis. The base member can include an aperture passing through a center point of the base member, a first indentation in the first side, and a second indentation in the second side. The staple apparatus can include a first pair of legs protruding from the first side of the base member and a second pair of legs protruding from the second side of the base member.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter provides systems and methods for performing minimally invasive surgery. A laparoscopic device for performing minimally invasive surgery can include a mesh configured to be affixed to a fascial tissue to reinforce the fascial tissue. The mesh can be attached to the laparoscopic device before the mesh reaches the fascial tissue. The laparoscopic device can also include a telescoping arm configured to deliver the mesh to the fascial tissue. The telescoping arm can be further configured to position the mesh at the fascial tissue by releasing the mesh from the laparoscopic device.

Abstract: A staple can include a bridge and two pairs of opposed legs that connect to the bridge. A first pair of legs can connect to the bridge toward a first end at a first shoulder and a second shoulder. A second pair of legs, opposed to the first pair legs, can connect to the bridge toward a second end at a third shoulder. The bridge can include a substantially smooth and non-breaking top surface that transitions downwardly at the first end and the second end to outer surfaces of the first pair of legs and the second pair of legs. The bridge can include a substantially constant moment of inertia, which may help improve performance and reduce risk of staple breakage.

Abstract: An orthopedic implant system can be used to fixate two bones (e.g., to portions of a single bone) relative to each other during a surgical procedure. In some configurations, the implant system includes a staple having at least two legs separated by a bridge. The staple can include at least two couplings on either side of the bridge accessible through a top surface of the staple connectable to two corresponding coupling shafts. The coupling shafts can attach through the top surface of the staple without extending below an underside of the staple. The coupling shafts can be used to bias the at least two legs of the staple away from each other for insertion into holes formed into two bones. By attaching the coupling shafts through the top of the staple, the staple can be inserted flush with the two bones before releasing the shafts.

Abstract: Disclosed in an orthopedic implant that comprises a spacer portion having a superior portion and an inferior portion, and a staple portion. The staple portion is integral with the spacer portion and comprises a crown portion and first and second leg portions, the first and second leg portions having distal end that converge from the crown portion and that are composed of a material that has superelastic properties at body temperatures, whereby the first and second leg portions are configured to impart a compressive biasing force when the implant is installed with the legs under tension.
