摘要： A sliding seal ring for a drill bit comprising at least one cutter rotatably mounted on a journal forming part of the drill bit body. The seal ring is made of elastic metallic strip material and is of spiral configuration with the spirals in overlapping relation. The seal ring is mounted under axial tension between the pocket in an edge ring and the drill bit body and rotates with the cutter. In one form of the invention, the spirals are in abutting relation to provide a complete seal. In another form the spirals are open to define gaps permitting flow of flushing liquid to cool and lubricate the bearings supporting the cutter on the trunnion.

摘要： A rotary drill bit having a plurality of cutters, each rotatably mounted on a trunnion. The bearing support includes a friction bearing consisting of a cup member of half-moon shape preferably made of an oil soaked sintered material. The outer surface of the cup engages the bore of the cutter and forms the non-loaded part of the slip surface in the unloaded zone of the friction bearing. The cup is mounted in a manner retaining the cutter against axial displacement from the trunnion. Biasing means between the cup and trunnion presses the cup against the cutter bore and compensates for wear of the cup.

摘要： A system for lubricating bearings in a drilling apparatus including a roller bit with at least one pivot and a cutting roller rotatably supported on the pivot by bearings. A cavity or chamber is formed in the roller bit for a non-compressible flushing liquid. The flow channel which communicates with the chamber at one end and the bearing cavity at the other end, provides a flow path for the flushing liquid to the bearing cavity. In one form the flushing liquid discharges to the bearing cavity at a point remote from an annular gap between the outer axial end face of the cutting roller and the roller bit. In another embodiment circumferentially spaced discharge ports are located between the bearings so that a portion of the flushing liquid is discharged to the environment and the remainder flows through the bearings and out the annular gap.

摘要： A rolling bearing for lengthwise movement with respect to a shaft has a housing with a cage for guiding endless rows of rolling elements. Race rails extend axially in the housing for radially outwardly supporting rolling elements in the portions of the portions of the lengths of the rows thereof adapted to receive loads. The race rails have first sides with convex curvature in the axial direction, and second sides opposite the first sides that extend straight in the axial direction, the race rails being adapted to be assembled in the bearing with selected ones of the sides thereof being directed radially outwardly. Both sides of the race rails may have axially extending guide grooves.

摘要： A rolling bearing for lengthwise movement along a shaft comprised of an outer sleeve having a plurality of races therein for rolling bearings, a cage being provided to guide the rolling bearings. A sealing ring is provided at each end of the assembly, the sealing ring having lips extending radially inwardly to contact the shaft. The sealing lips are thin and elastically bendable, and are mounted to enable bowing thereof into free spaces on opposite sides thereof, depending upon direction of lengthwise movement of the shaft. As a consequence, for small movements of the shaft, the sealing lips cling to the shaft and become bulged, rather than sliding along the shaft.

摘要： A self centering clutch thrust bearing has a damping ring between one bearing ring and the sliding sleeve of a housing. The damping ring has resilient projections positioned to engage recesses in the housing with play, to damp small turning motions, and larger projections positioned to engage other recesses in the housing with play, to damp larger turning forces. The resilient projections are mounted to be operative in damping the forces prior to the larger projections.This invention relates to self centering clutch thrust bearings, and more in particular to the provision of damping means in such bearings.

摘要： A rotary drill bit assembly comprising a drill bit body, at least one trunnion formed integrally with the drill bit body and a rotary cutter rotatably supported on the trunnion by bearing means. The bearing means consist of at least two rows of balls which ride between an inner raceway groove formed integrally in the trunnion and an outer raceway groove formed in the interior peripheral surface of the rotary cutter. A filling hole or port is provided in the drill bit body which terminates at its inner end in each raceway so that the balls of the corresponding row may be assembled in the annular space between the trunnion and rotary cutter. A filler pin closes the corresponding filling hole or port and has a terminal end which complements the cross section of the raceway groove.

An outer sleeve surrounds the central portion of the bearing and defines races for balls in the endless paths. End rings on the axial ends of the bearing radially outwardly cover the semicircular guideway portions. The semicircular guideway portions have outwardly convex bottoms, and the end rings have concave recesses in their inner surfaces aligned with the semicircular guideways. The convex portions of the guideways and the concave portions of the recesses have common centers of curvature extending parallel to the bearing axis and displaced outwardly therefrom.
