摘要: The first print data indicating the discharging amounts of color and clear inks is generated in correspondence with an image to be printed with the color and clear inks. The second print data for designating a region for expressing decoration is generated. The discharging amount of the clear ink in the region for expressing decoration in the first print data is changed based on the second print data. Printing is done by scanning a printhead a plurality of number of times based on the changed first print data to execute the print scan of the clear ink after that of the color ink.

摘要: The present invention allows for creating high quality images by coping with a variety of kinds of print mediums without having to prepare large-sized, large-capacity power supply and ink supply source. For this purpose, this invention detects the number of printing elements to be driven in a predetermined check area set in one scan area of the print head. If the detected value is greater than a predetermined threshold, either the number of printing elements to be driven in one scan period of the print head or one scan period from when the print head starts the printing scan until the next printing scan is started is selected and changed according to the set printing condition and the printing operation is performed accordingly.

摘要: The present invention provides an ink jet printing apparatus and a method for controlling an ink jet printing apparatus which, during a non-print operation excluding a print operation, can stir ink at a required time and to a required level according to the state of the ink in the ink tank. During a non-print operation excluding a print operation accompanied by a reciprocal movement of the carriage, a stir operation is executed to stir the ink in the ink tank by reciprocating the carriage according to a stir mode. As the stir mode, one of different modes is set according to an elapsed time from the previous stir operation.

摘要: A recording apparatus is configured to record an image on a recording medium by repeating a recording operation and a conveying operation. The recording operation is operative to apply a recording agent to the recording medium using a recording head while moving the recording head for scanning in a direction different from a predetermined direction. The recording head includes a plurality of recording elements arranged in the predetermined direction and adapted to apply the recording agent. The conveying operation is operative to convey the recording medium in a direction transverse to the scanning direction. The recording apparatus includes a recording control unit configured to perform the recording operation such that a number of the recording elements which are used to record an image on at least one of a front end portion and a rear end portion of the recording medium is reduced at a rate as compared to that of the recording elements which are used to record an image on a central portion of the recording medium, and a recording mode selecting unit configured to select a recording mode from a plurality of recording modes differing from one another in at least one of recording quality and recording time. The recording control unit changes the rate of reduction according to the recording mode selected by the recording mode selecting unit.

摘要: An image processing method includes the steps of converting input image data to ink color data corresponding to each amount of a plurality of colors of achromatic inks used for printing, and generating printing data for first, second and third achromatic inks based on the ink color data. The printing data is used for printing by causing a printing head to scan a common image area in a printing medium a plurality of times, the printing head ejecting the plurality of colors of inks. The converting step converts the input image data to ink color data for the first, second and third achromatic inks so that the first achromatic ink is used with respect to a value of the input image data indicating achromatic color, and the generating step generates the printing data for the first, second and third achromatic inks so as to (a) make a printing duty for the first achromatic ink during first half of the plurality of scans higher than a printing duty for the first achromatic ink during the latter half of the plurality of scans, and (b) make printing duties for the second and third achromatic inks during the latter half of the scans higher than in the first half of the scans.

摘要: While a conveying error of a roller depends on the eccentricity of the roller, the amount and the state of the eccentricity sometimes makes the roller have different conveying errors from one point in the longitudinal direction of the roller to another. There is provided a construction for obtaining a correction value that is suitable for the correction of the conveying error even in such a case as described above. To this end, plural test patterns are formed in the longitudinal direction of the roller. Then, a suitable correction value for correcting the conveying error that depends on the eccentricity of the roller is obtained on the basis of these test patterns.
