Abstract: Exemplary video processing methods and apparatuses for coding a current block determine a number of OBMC blending lines for a boundary between a current block and a neighboring block according to motion information, a location of the current block, or a coding mode of the current block. OBMC is applied to the current block by blending an original predictor of the current block with an OBMC predictor for the number of OBMC blending lines. Some other exemplary video processing methods and apparatuses for coding a current block extend reference samples fetched from a buffer by a padding method to generate padded sample, and OBMC is applied to the current block or a neighboring block by blending an original predictor with an OBMC predictor generated from the extended reference samples.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of video coding using adaptive Inter prediction are disclosed. A selected Inter prediction process is determined, wherein the selected Inter prediction process selects an Inter prediction filter from multiple Inter prediction filters for the current block depending on first pixel data comprising neighbouring reconstructed pixels (NRP) of the current block. The selected Inter prediction process may be further determined depending on extra motion compensated pixels (EMCP) around a motion-compensated reference block corresponding to the current block. Distortion between the NRP and EMCP can be used to determine the selected Inter prediction filter. The distortion can be calculated using a sum of absolute differences or squared differences between the NRP and the EMCP.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for partitioning a coding unit into one or more prediction units are disclosed. A prediction binary tree structure corresponding to a binary tree partitioning process for the current block is determined. The current block is partitioned into one or more prediction units according to the prediction binary tree structure. In the encoder side, a prediction process is applied to each prediction unit to generate prediction information for each prediction unit. The prediction information for each prediction unit associated with each prediction unit are encoded into a bitstream for the current block. In the decoder side, each prediction unit is reconstructed based on previous reconstructed data and prediction information of each prediction unit. The prediction information of each prediction unit are derived from the video bitstream. The current block is reconstructed based on the prediction units that are reconstructed according to the prediction binary tree structure derived.

According to the method, combined prediction members are determined, where each of the combined prediction member includes a weighted sum of a first prediction candidate and a second prediction candidate using a target weighting selected from a weighting set. Abstract: Exemplary video processing methods and apparatuses for encoding or decoding a current block by inter prediction are disclosed. Input data of a current block is received and partitioned into sub-partitions and motion refinement is independently performed on each sub-partition. A reference block for each sub-partition is obtained from one or more reference pictures according to an initial motion vector (MV). A refined MV for each sub-partition is derived by searching around the initial MV with N-pixel refinement. One or more boundary pixels of the reference block for a sub-partition is padded for motion compensation of the sub-partition. A final predictor for the current block is generated by performing motion compensation for each sub-partition according to its refined MV. The current block is then encoded or decoded according to the final predictor.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of prediction for video coding are disclosed. According to one method, a block is partitioned into a first and second regions using a target partition selected from a partition set comprising triangle partition. A Merge candidate list is determined for a partitioned current block by including at least one HMVP (history-based motion vector prediction) candidate from an HMVP buffer, where the HMVP buffer stores motion information of previously coded blocks. The partitioned current block or current motion information associated with the partitioned current block are encoded or decoded using the Merge candidate list, where the Merge candidate list is used to derive a first candidate for the first region and a second candidate for the second region. In another method, whether to apply triangular CIIP (combined Inter/Intra prediction) to the current block is signaled at an encoder side or parsed at a decoder side.
