Abstract:
An odor control additive present in a litter formulation provides release of fragrance or odor masking scent only when litter is used by a cat or other animal within a litter box. The odor control additive comprises a plurality of fragrance scent microcapsules that contain fragrance scent oil. This central, fragrance scent oil is encapsulated in a microcapsule cell wall, which prevents evaporation of the fragrance scent oil and prevents overpowering of litter smell in a closed room resembling an unscented litter composition. When cat or animal enters the litter box, a load is applied to the fragrance scent microcapsules, which readily breaks releasing the fragrance contained therein. The fragrance scent microcapsule cell walls also degrade by swelling and degradation when wet by animal urine thereby releasing fragrance. Fragrance evaporating from the ruptured microcapsules provides odor control and a pleasant scent.
Abstract:
A safety helmet system for motorcycle and bicycle riders includes a lightweight impact resistant helmet having an on/off switch. A power supply lights an electroluminescent strip surrounding the outer periphery of the helmet, signaling at eye level the presence of the rider to all drivers in the vicinity. The power supply also powers a single axis accelerometer having its sensitive axis oriented along the Cycle's travel direction. A microprocessor captures maximum deceleration in a braking cycle. The captured deceleration is segmented into low, medium and high values. A plurality of LED lights are mounted on the back face of the helmet. The microprocessor turns on LED arrays to create progressively increasing LED lit areas in direct proportion with the Cycle deceleration rate. Vehicle drivers following the Cycle are provided information concerning the Cycle's deceleration rate, enabling them to brake and thereby avoid colliding with the Cycle; the margin of safety is significantly increased for Cycle riders and drivers of following vehicles.
Abstract:
An animal toy containing food having a first portion with food delivery means integrated therein adapted to securely house solid food treats, including a nutritional pet supplement, to be removed by the animal during play or through chewing action, and a second side with a plurality of gum stimulation teeth integrated within and projecting therefrom that act to massage the gums of the animal. Food delivery means may be provided as a plurality of cavities integrated within the first portion (and optionally, the second portion), preferably having a grooved or threaded interior for securely holding food pieces securely therein. Alternatively, the food delivery means is provided as a food portion composing the first portion. A pet supplement may be utilized, including joint preserving and joint rebuilding compositions comprising chicken collagen type II, glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate, a vitamin composition comprising vitamins C, D and K, a mineral composition comprising calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese and boron, a herbal anti-oxidant cofactor blend comprising citrus bioflavonoids, red grapes anthocyanins, turmeric rhizome, boswellia resin and fennel seed.
Abstract:
A bandage remains securely attached to the skin of a wearer during extended exposure to arid, humid or wet conditions. The bandage is readily removed from the attached condition upon application of pressure to its exterior surface. Adhesive portions of the contain pockets or microcapsules filled with an adhesive-inactivating ingredient. The pockets are formed in the backing layer. Microcapsules, if present, are incorporated in the adhesive. The adhesive inactivating ingredient comprises oil from vegetable source, mineral source or fatty acids. The wearer ruptures the pockets or microcapsules by applying pressure to the bandage above the adhesive portions. The adhesive-inactivating ingredient is thereby released at the skin-adhesive interface, permitting an easy, pain-free removal of the bandage.
Abstract:
A collapsible animal litter pan has polymeric surfaces that are immune to urine soaking. A plurality of hinges collapse and expand the litter pan. The litter pan has sidewalls that locate, receive and stabilize a urine absorption sheet. The urine absorption sheet has a liquid impervious bottom layer, a urine absorption layer composed of cotton, cellulose fluff pulp, commuted pulp, soft wood fine chips, or hydrophilic paper and combinations thereof, together with superabsorbent polymers and a top, liquid permeable, layer. The top and bottom layers are bonded to constrain the urine absorbent layer. An adhesive coating is applied to the bottom layer of the urine absorption sheet for temporarily adhering the sheet to the foldable litter pan for enhanced stability of the urine absorption sheet. Animal urine is substantially completely absorbed by the urine absorbent sheet, and the soiled sheet replaced with a fresh sheet without soiling the litter pan.
Abstract:
A pet supplement includes a joint preserving and joint rebuilding composition comprising chicken collagen type II, glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate, a vitamin composition comprising vitamins C, D and K, a mineral composition comprising calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese and boron, a herbal anti-oxidant cofactor blend comprising citrus bioflavonoids, red grapes anthocyanins, turmeric rhizome, boswellia resin and fennel seed. Each of these ingredients is intimately mixed into the pet supplement and orally delivered to the pet in the form of a segment, paste or powder having a size and weight or other dosage measuring feature adjusted in accordance with the pet's weight. A synergistic action between these ingredients preserves and rebuilds the pet's joints, and is nutritionally beneficial for the pet.
Abstract:
A flexible omnidirectionally reflective horse lead has a central portion, and mechanical attachment means to accommodate a bridal bit ring. The lead reflects an incoming light beam from a walker or horseback rider back in the direction from which it emanated, preventing dangerous encounters during dusk or nighttime hours. The omnidirectionally reflective elements may be incorporated in a horse harness, or in a halter suitable for horses roaming in a paddock or field. The reflective elements are created by surrounding a central braided rope of nylon or polyethylene fibers with a cylindrically braided reflective sleeve. The braided reflective sleeve is composed of narrow width reflective strips thermally bonded to a flexible polymeric sheet with attached corner cube or microsphere retroreflectors. Due to its braided construction, the reflective elements reflect light omnidirectionally over a large angle of acceptance, illuminating the horse harness or halter. An improved measure of safety is thereby provided for both the horse and the horseback rider.
Abstract:
A flexible abrasion resistant omnidirectionally reflective pet toy reflects incoming light beam back in the same direction as it was emanated, thereby indicating the location of a pet toy and thereby preventing tripping hazards in pet play areas during dusk or nighttime hours. The pet toy is created by surrounding a central braided rope of nylon or polyethylene fibers with a cylindrically braided reflective sleeve that is coated with an abrasion resistant transparent polymeric coating. The braided reflective sleeve is composed of braided narrow width reflective strips. The flexible retroreflective sheet is formed by thermally bonding corner cube, microsphere retroreflectors, or wide-angle exposed retroreflective lenses to a flexible polymeric sheet. The pet toy reflective braid may include knots and/or play balls or photoluminescence, glow-in-the-dark elements to provide an added measure of safety and enhanced play appeal.
Abstract:
A flexible abrasion resistant omnidirectionally reflective pet leash has handle, central pet leash, and pet collar sections that reflect an incoming light beam back in the same direction as it was emanated. The reflected light beam provides accurate illumination of the pet owner's hand, pet leash and the location of the pet during dusk or nighttime hours. This pet leash is created by surrounding a central braided rope of nylon or polyethylene fibers with a cylindrically braided reflective sleeve that is coated with an abrasion resistant transparent polymeric coating. The braided reflective sleeve is composed of narrow width reflective strips that comprise a woven or knitted narrow width strip and a flexible nylon retroreflective sheet sewn thereon. The flexible retroreflective sheet is formed by thermally bonding corner cube, microsphere retroreflectors, or wide angle exposed retroreflective lenses to a flexible polymeric sheet. Due to its braided construction, the reflective pet leash reflects light omnidirectionally over a large angle of acceptance, illuminating the pet owner's hand, the leash itself, and the pet's collar, thereby providing an improved measure of safety for both the pet and the pet handler.
