    摘要: Methods and systems for estimating and canceling pilot interference in a wireless (e.g., CDMA) communication system. In one method, a received signal comprised of a number of signal instances, each including a pilot, is initially processed to provide data samples. Each signal instance's pilot interference may be estimated by despreading the data samples with a spreading sequence for the signal instance, channelizing the despread data to provide pilot symbols, filtering the pilot symbols to estimate the channel response of the signal instance, and multiplying the estimated channel response with the spreading sequence. The pilot interference estimates due to a plurality of interfering multipaths are accumulated to derive the total pilot interference, which is subtracted from the data samples to provide pilot-canceled data samples. These samples are then processed to derive demodulated data for each of at least one (desired) signal instance in the received signal.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling the transmit power levels of first and second base station transceivers, wherein the first and second base station transceivers are respectively associated with first and second sectors of a cell. The received signal strength of a communication signal arriving at the mobile station is initially determined. A power control value that is based on the received signal strength is then transmitted from the mobile station to the first and second base station transceivers. A first received power control value is next generated by attempting to receive the transmitted power control value at the first base station transceiver, and a second received power control value is generated by attempting to receive the transmitted power control value at the second base station transceiver. A common transmit power value is calculated at a base station controller for the first and second base station transceivers when the first and second received power control values are unequal. The communication signal is then transmitted from the first and second base station transceivers in accordance with the common transmit power value.

    摘要: In a CDMA data communication system capable of variable rate transmission, utilization of beam switching techniques decreases the average interference caused by transmissions of a base station to subscriber stations within a cell, and in neighboring cells. Base stations utilize multiple transmit antennas, each transmitting signals at controlled amplitudes and phases, to form transmit signal corresponding to sector divisions. Data and reference signals are transmitted along sector division beams that alternate according to fixed time slots in order to increase system capacity and data rates by maximizing carrier-to-interference ratios (C/I) measured at subscriber stations.
