Abstract:
Methods, articles of manufacture, and apparatus to count people in an image are disclosed. An example method includes capturing an image of a body region in a first frame; and when a second frame different from the first frame includes the image of the body region, incrementing a first count of persons in the second frame.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture for detecting objects in images using color histograms are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein comprises segmenting an image into sets of subregions, different sets having at least one of different subregion sizes or different subregion offsets relative to one another, determining a first comparison metric quantifying comparison of a first subregion with the object based on differences between bin values of a second color histogram corresponding to the object and adjusted bin values of a first color histogram corresponding to the first subregion, determining a second comparison metric quantifying comparison of a second subregion with the object, and comparing the first and second comparison metrics with a threshold to identify at least one of the subregions as being associated with a possible location of the object in the image.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for nonintrusive monitoring of web browser usage are disclosed. An example method for monitoring web browsing disclosed herein comprises obtaining a video signal from a video output of a device implementing a web browser, processing a video image obtained from the video signal to identify a region of the video image displaying at least a portion of the web browser, determining textual information displayed by the web browser in the identified region of the video image, and using the textual information to record usage of the web browser.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, articles of manufacture and apparatus are disclosed to calculate distance from audio sources. An example method disclosed herein includes receiving, at the reference audio collecting device, a first radio frequency (RF) signal from the portable audio collecting device, in response to receiving the RF signal, storing ambient audio to a memory as reference data samples, each of the reference data samples associated with an indication of a respective time of acquisition, and receiving a second RF signal containing portable data samples of the ambient audio, each of the portable data samples associated with an indication of a respective time of acquisition. The example method also includes computing a correlation value between a set of the portable data samples and a plurality of the reference data samples, selecting a set of samples having a highest correlation value, subtracting the indication of times of the pair of samples to form a difference value, and calculating a distance between the portable audio device and the reference audio collecting device based on the difference value.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to adjust signature matching results for audience measurement are disclosed. An example method to adjust a signature matching result associated with monitoring a media content presentation disclosed herein comprises obtaining a monitored signature representative of the monitored media content presentation from a monitoring device, obtaining an environmental characteristic associated with the monitored signature from the monitoring device, and adjusting the signature matching result using an adjustment value when the monitored signature is determined to match a reference signature representative of reference media content, the adjustment value selected from a plurality of adjustment values based on the matched reference signature and the environmental characteristic.
Abstract:
Example methods and apparatus to perform image classification based on pseudorandom features are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes generating first and second pseudorandom numbers, extracting a first feature of an image based on the first and second pseudorandom numbers, and determining a classification for the image based on the first extracted feature.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture for using location information to manage spillover in an audience monitoring system are disclosed. In particular, the example methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture detect spillover to generate media monitoring information. Initially, a first sensor located in a first location and a second sensor located in a second location receive a portable metering device signal. First location information is associated with receiving the portable metering device signal via the first sensor and second location information is associated with receiving the portable metering device signal via the second sensor. Media monitoring information is generated based on one of the first location information or the second location information.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to identify media content using temporal signal characteristics are disclosed. An example method to identify media content includes receiving a reference signal corresponding to known media content and generating a reference signature based on the reference signal. The method further includes generating a plurality of sums based on peaks in the media signal and identifying one or more signal peaks based on the generated sums. The method then generates a second signature based on a plurality of normalized curve features, wherein each normalized curve feature corresponds to a signal peak at the temporal location of the signal peak, and determining whether the media signal corresponds to the reference signal based a comparison of the reference signature and the second signature.
Abstract:
Signature-based program identification apparatus and methods for use with digital audio and/or video systems are disclosed. The disclosed systems and methods develop signatures of digital audio and/or video content from a digital data stream at two or more sites and compare the signatures to one another to identify the content.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for providing information a client requested about a system using scripts are described. In one embodiment, one or more scripts request information about a computer system. A translator receives the information about the system from the scripts. The translator stores the information about the system in readily accessible data structures.
