    Abstract: A method of operating a building elevator system having a plurality of elevator systems organized into an elevator group including: detecting crowd data within an elevator lobby proximate the elevator group on a landing; determining a level of crowdedness in response to the crowd data; determining at least two elevator cars of the plurality of elevator systems are required in response to the level of crowdedness; dispatching an elevator car of a first elevator system of the plurality of elevator systems to the landing; dispatching an elevator car of a second elevator system of the plurality of elevator systems to the landing; and coordinating an arrival time of the elevator car of the first elevator system at the landing and an arrival time of the elevator car of the second elevator system at the landing.

    Abstract: An illustrative example elevator system includes a plurality of elevator cars. A dispatch controller assigns a first one of the elevator cars to travel to a landing in response to a first request for elevator service at that landing. At least one call button is operative to place a second request while the first one of the elevator cars is situated at the landing in response to the first request. The dispatch controller assigns a second one of the elevator cars to travel to the landing in response to the second request.

    Abstract: A method of testing elevator car braking distance includes verifying that an elevator car is empty. The method also includes initiating a test procedure. The method further includes triggering a safety actuation device to actuate at least one safety brake to stop an elevator car. The method yet further includes recording braking data during a braking period. The method also includes recording braking data with at least one piece of elevator car equipment. The method further includes generating a braking data report that includes at least one of braking distance and braking deceleration of the elevator car.

    Abstract: A method of operating an elevator or escalator system is provided. The method includes alerting a mechanic of a shutdown of a vehicle of the elevator or escalator system and providing data indicative of an occupancy condition of the vehicle to the mechanic so that the mechanic can execute, in any order, a verification of a no-occupancy condition, a switch of a mode of operation of the elevator or escalator system to a recovery mode and an inspection for faults. The method further includes initiating an overspeed (OS) switch reset routine in an event the mechanic confirms that an actuation of the OS switch is an exclusive cause of the shutdown and remotely triggers the OS switch reset routine accordingly.
