Abstract: Systems, methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are disclosed that allow for control information to be provided in an efficient manner during short burst transmission. For example, an apparatus may be configured to receive downlink control information (DCI) that indicates an allocated resource from a base station. The apparatus may also receive data from the base station. The apparatus may generate a cyclically shifted sequence that corresponds to a sequence that is cyclically shifted based on at least one of an ACK or NACK for the received data and a SR. The apparatus may then transmit the cyclically shifted sequence in the allocated resource within one symbol period of a slot of a subframe to the base station. Thus, by transmitting the SR and the ACK/NACK in one symbol, control information for short burst transmissions can be provided in a more temporally efficient manner without adding excessive complexity to the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for variable spreading factor codes for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In an exemplary method, a base station assigns, from a first codebook of N short code sequences of length K, a subset of the short code sequences to a number of user equipments (UEs); receives a signal including uplink data or control signals from two or more of the UEs, wherein a first uplink data or control signal is sent using a first subsequence of one of the assigned short code sequences, and a second uplink data or control signal is sent using a second subsequence of one of the assigned short code sequences or using one of the assigned short code sequences; and decodes each uplink data or control signal in the signal based on the assigned short code sequences and subsequences of the assigned the short code sequences.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus generating sequences and mapping cyclic shifts of the sequences to hypotheses for short burst transmissions, for example, in new radio (NR) technologies. An exemplary method includes selecting a computer generated sequence (CGS), from a plurality of CGSs; determining, based on different values of uplink control information (UCI) and a first shift index assigned to the transmitter, a shift to apply to the CGS; and transmitting the selected CGS, with the determined shift applied, in a short physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) to indicate the UCI.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a scheduled entity that obtains a resource allocation for transmission of an acknowledgment (ACK)/negative acknowledgment (NACK) payload using implicit resource mapping based on at least one of a scrambling identifier or one of a plurality of control resource sets (CORESETs) and transmits the ACK/NACK payload based on the obtained resource allocation. In an aspect, a scheduled entity obtains a resource allocation for transmitting different types of uplink control information (UCI), wherein the resource allocation is based on a combination of the different types of UCI and transmits the different types of UCI based on the obtained resource allocation. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
