摘要: Some embodiments of the invention provide a heat plate system that includes a closed vessel having at least one flexible surface. The flexible surface allows the vessel to come into intimate contact with heat-generating components (e.g., integrated circuits) residing at varying heights above the floor of a module (e.g., an avionics module). In some embodiments, the material may allow the heat plate to expand in response to absorbing heat, so that it may mold itself around the contours of different heat-generating components, increasing the surface area contact between the heat plate and the components, and increasing the heat plate's ability to conduct heat away from the components.

摘要: A cardlock clamp is described that is used to secure an electronics module in a channel of a card cage. The cardlock clamp is configured to convert an input compression force into clamping forces in at least two radial directions perpendicular to the input compression force. The described cardlock clamp also provides self-alignment and self-center functions for the electronics module inserted into the channel. Further, variations of the cardlock clamp are described that provide more effective heat transfer from the electronics module to the card cage.

摘要: System and methods are described for irreversibly destroying optical signatures that utilize optical signature defining material, for example discrete objects or fluids, disposed in optical signature chambers to create individual optical signatures that together form an optical signature for the system. By irreversibly destroying the individual optical signatures, unauthorized replication of the system optical signature is prevented ensuring the security of the optical signature and any technology relying upon or tied to the optical signature.

摘要: A tool and method for the alignment and placement of optoelectronic devices with attached fiber optic connectors onto the electronic interface substrate of a parallel optical transceiver package. The optoelectronic devices are connected to the substrate through a flexible circuit. The tool is comprised of a mounting frame, which includes a recess for the parallel optical transceiver package, and a rotatable clamp assembly for positioning a pair of optoelectronic devices with attached fiber optic connector and flexible circuit. Rotation of the rotatable clamp assembly properly places the flexible circuit onto the attachment point of the substrate. The rotating clamp assembly is then fixed in place by securing the actuator arm to the mounting frame. Once the clamp is secured, the flexible circuit is bonded to the substrate.

摘要: A stack of sheet elastomers, each having multiple holes therein, dissipates shock forces applied to it. The elastomeric sheets are formed with identical holes each of which have a periphery that is symmetrical around the centers of the holes that extend over a shock dissipation area of the device. The sheets are stacked so that one, or more continuous material passageways are formed through the stack that extend from one support surface to a parallel support surface. This allows for the elastomer material of these passageways to transmit sheer shock forces when a compressive force is applied normal to the support surfaces. Elastomeric, or other material of a composition different, preferably elastomeric, from the material of the stacked sheets, may be filled into holes of the sheets to adjust the characteristics of the device.

摘要: A soil analysis system for determining one or more categories of soil based upon the particle sizes in a soil sample. The soil analysis system includes an image sensor and an image analysis assembly. The image sensor produces an image to distinguish individual particles of a soil sample and calculates particle size. The image analysis assembly is coupled to the image sensor to determine a category for each particle based upon the size of the particles, percentage of each category of particles, and one or more categories of soil for the soil sample.

摘要: An energy dissipation system for limiting forces applied to object; includes a piston rod that extends out of a pneumatic cylinder which contacts the object, the piston rod is forced from its initial position against a return spring and air is forced into an air line. The force transmitted to the object is consumed by an energy transformation device that responds to the air in the air line. [One such energy transformation device as an air accumulator, which is coupled to the air line trough a check valve. An orifice or release valve, releases air up a predetermined flow rate so that the linear motion of the protected object is transformed into work, which is dissipated.] [Another] The energy transformation device consists of an air-driven motor coupled to a heavy flywheel [through] that is driven by the motor. [A third alternative energy transformation device consist of a second dissipation cylinder and piston, where the dissipation cylinder is coupled to the air line so that the air in line, drives the pistons against a return spring that orifice or release valve, may also be coupled to the airline on to the dissipation cylinder.]

摘要: A swath planning system accepts curved path information to synthesize and generate parallel curved paths. The swath planning system terminates the generation of parallel curved paths which exceed physical limitations of the associated machinery. The swath planning system provides an operator with significant advance information to create a more efficient and relaxed product application. The swath planning system further provides environmental advantages to all through enhanced resource management by eliminating or significantly reducing ground and/or water contamination and by eliminating or significantly reducing product waste due to more precise and accurate placement of resources.
