摘要: The present invention provides a process for producing an alkanediol derivative represented by the general formula (II) from an ester compound represented by the general formula (I), safely without giving rise to racemization. The present invention lies in a process for producing an alcohol derivative represented by the following general formula (II): (wherein R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; X is a hydrogen atom or a protecting group for hydroxyl group; and n is 0 or 1), which process comprises reducing an ester compound represented by the following general formula (I): (wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and R2, R3, X and n have the same definitions as given above) with sodium borohydride in a mixed solvent of at least one kind of solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons and alicyclic hydrocarbons and a primary alcohol.

摘要: A seal or bearing comprising a combination of a movable member and a stationary member, either one of the movable and stationary members being made of a low thermal expansion coefficient material, and the other being made of a carbon containing material, wherein a sliding surface of the movable or stationary member which is made of the low thermal expansion coefficient material is irradiated with an ion beam consisting essentially of nitrogen ions at the same time as titanium is vacuum-deposited on the sliding surface, thereby forming a thin titanium nitride film on the sliding surface, which provide a seal or bearing which has a reduced coefficient of friction, and which is improved in wear resistance.

摘要: A noncontacting face seal has a stationary sealing ring and a rotating sealing ring with opposed radially extending sealing surfaces for restricting a fluid flow from a high pressure fluid side to a low pressure fluid side. The rotating sealing ring is moved out of contact with the stationary sealing ring due to hydrostatic force from the fluid. The noncontacting face seal comprises spiral grooves formed in one of the sealing surfaces and extending from a low pressure fluid side to a high pressure fluid side in a radial direction so as to pump fluid from the low pressure fluid side towards the high pressure fluid side, and a spaced portion formed in one of the sealing surfaces and extending inwardly from one circumference of the sealing surface at the high pressure fluid side so as to introduce fluid in the high pressure fluid side between the sealing surfaces.

摘要: A spiral groove face seal has a stationary sealing ring and a rotating sealing ring with opposed radially extending sealing surfaces for restricting fluid flow from a high pressure fluid side to a low pressure fluid side. The rotating sealing ring is in contact with the stationary sealing ring at at least a part of the sealing surfaces when the rotating ring is stopped, and the rotating ring is moved out of contact with the stationary sealing ring when the rotating sealing ring is rotated. The spiral groove face seal comprises spiral grooves formed on one of the sealing surfaces and extending from one circumference of the sealing surface in a radial direction and from the high pressure fluid side to the low pressure fluid side so as to pump fluid from the high pressure fluid side towards the low pressure fluid side. A recess is formed on one of the sealing surfaces coincident with or opposite to at least a portion of the area in which the spiral grooves are formed.

摘要: Sheets for use in correspondence which can be used for postcards, etc. are disclosed. The correspondence sheets consist of twice-folded sheet displaying information on the inside, clear resin films coated on the inside each-other-facing surfaces of the twice-folded sheet in a manner that they can hardly be peeled off, and a temporary adhesive layer which connects the each-other-facing clear resin films in a manner that they can be later peeled off and also the peeled surface thus formed has no tackiness. The sheets will be peeled off at the temporary adhesive layer by the receiver, and the peeled surface on each side after the unfolding is covered with clear resin film having no tackiness.
