摘要: A mobile wireless telecommunications system includes base stations of a first type operating according to a first air interface, and base stations of a second type operating according to a second air interface. Methods and apparatus are provided for handing over a mobile station in the system from a first base station, which is of the first type, to a second base station, which is of the second type. A communications link is established over the first air interface between the mobile station and the first base station. Data are received from the mobile station responsive to a signal received by the mobile station over the second air interface from the second base station, substantially without breaking the communications link with the first base station. The mobile station is handed over from the first to the second base station responsive to the data received therefrom. In particular, a method of conducting intersystem handover from a multicarrier system to a direct spread system is provided. Timing synchronization is also advantageously made available through the mobile station.

摘要: Schemes to time-align transmissions from multiple base stations to a terminal. To achieve time-alignment, differences between the arrival times of transmissions from the base stations, as observed at the terminal, are determined and provided to the system and used to adjust the timing at the base stations such that terminal-specific radio frames arrive at the terminal within a particular time window. In one scheme, a time difference between two base stations is partitioned into a frame-level time difference and a chip-level time difference. Whenever requested to perform and report time difference measurements, the terminal measures the chip-level timing for each candidate base station relative to a reference base station. Additionally, the terminal also measures the frame-level timing and includes this information in the time difference measurement only if required. Otherwise, the terminal sets the frame-level part to a predetermined value (e.g., zero).

摘要: A method and apparatus for a communication system provide for fast link setup for a mobile station by transmitting a request message, transmitting an assignment message from the base station to the mobile station, and transmitting a notification message from the base station to a base station controller. The mobile station transmits an indication message to the base station controller indicating a successful completion of acquiring the data packet channel. The base station controller processes the indication message for message integrity and security feature. A portion of the available communication resources at the base station is allocated for an immediate response to the request message for acquiring a data packet channel.

摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate network management and optimization. As described herein, a network and a device communicating with the network can exchange network management information, thereby supporting a Self Organized Network (SON) architecture for improved network management and optimization performance. A Non-Access Stratum (NAS) layer protocol and/or an Internet Protocol (IP) application, in combination with a set of associated network management messages, can be utilized to exchange network management information between a device and a network. As further described herein, various procedures can be utilized to install a SON policy to a device in order to define device behavior for operations such as collecting and reporting information related to network management. Additionally, a set of standardized events can be defined, based on which a device can detect the occurrence of an event and report the occurrence to an associated network.

摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate notifying and detecting system information block (SIB) modification in subsequent modification periods. Access points can advertise information in a current SIB indicating a subsequent modification period in which the SIB will be modified. Devices can receive the SIB and process the information to determine whether the SIB will be modified and in which modification period. This mitigates undesirable affects of utilizing paging to indicate SIB modification since devices read the SIB upon entering a cell, switching from active to idle mode, etc.

摘要: Facilitating user terminal (UT) access to wireless networks having disparate types of base stations (BSs) is described herein. By way of example, a distinct identifier (ID) can be reserved for a particular type of network access point (e.g. restricted or general access, full or fractional re-use, transmit power, cell size, etc.). The distinct ID can be broadcast by such access points, identifying the access point type. In some aspects, the distinct ID can be unicast to a terminal that is within a predetermined region of the network. Thus, at least within such region, the terminal can be directed to search for or handoff to a preferred type of access point (such as a home Node B). In such aspects, by providing regional-specific access, the subject disclosure can significantly reduce overhead signaling outside a home region where a home or preferred access point is expected to be found.

摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate identifying a plurality of keysets utilized in a communications network. The keysets can include ciphering keys that provide data encryption and decryption and integrity keys that provide data integrity protection. A key identifier can be included in a packet data convergence protocol header that indicates a keyset employed in connection with data in a protocol data unit. In addition, a route indicator can be provided in a radio link control header that distinguishes a source cell and a target cell in networks configured without RLC reset.

摘要: A method and system that enables multiplexing a plurality of data streams onto one data stream based on data stream priorities and available transport frame combinations (TFCs) is disclosed. A mobile station has applications that produce separate data streams. Example applications include voice, signaling E-mail and web applications. The data streams are combined by a multiplexer module into one data stream called the transport stream. The transport stream is sent over the reverse link to base station transceivers (BTS). The multiplexer module multiplexes the data streams onto the transport stream according to their priorities and the available TFCs.

摘要: Techniques for performing handover in order to maintain call continuity for a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may communicate with a first cell in a radio access network (RAN) for a packet-switched (PS) call, e.g., for Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) via High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) in W-CDMA. The UE may send measurement reports to the RAN and may receive trigger from the RAN. The UE may establish a circuit-switched (PS) call with the first cell while the PS call is pending at the first cell. The PS call and the CS call may be for a voice call, and the UE may switch data path for the voice call from the PS call to the CS call and then terminate the PS call. The UE may then perform handover of the CS call from the first cell to a second cell, which may not support VoIP.
