    摘要: A method and implementing apparatus is provided for transferring data from a first device to a second device through a system coupling call. The coupling methodology is implemented to effect a direct coupling between a data producing device and a data receiving device such that data transfers between devices is passed more directly between devices with only minimal copying of the data during the transfer process. The coupling subsystem enables the construction of coupling modules which provide services and afford the opportunity to optimize the transference of data between two devices and permit the dynamic construction of coupling modules to provide coupling service between any pair of devices. In one example, video calls have been created to interface within the new data coupling environment.

    摘要: A method and implementing apparatus is provided for transferring data from memory to a file decoder which is effective to decode the file for further processing. In an illustrated example, a video file is decoded for presentation on a display device. The methodology includes enabling a plurality of control functions for access by a user or a user system in controlling the identity, sequence and flow of file transfers in order to optimize transfer efficiency in a data transfer transaction. Application programming interface (API) calls are provided by which playlists are constructed for transfer to the decoder. Further API calls are provided to enable pause and seek functions to be activated during a file transfer. A registration methodology is also provided by which predetermined processing events may be selected and recorded as they occur. The process further includes a methodology for modifying the file transfer protocol between multiple copy transfer and minimal copy transfer depending upon the type of data transfer channel being implemented.

    摘要: The present invention provides a computer storage server implemented method for generating attribute streams. The storage server receives a request from an application to write data to at least one storage object, the request having a request type. The storage server then updates an attribute stream with metadata associated with the at least one storage object. The storage server also updates the attribute stream with the at least one checksum, such that the attribute stream is associated with the at least one storage object. The storage server determines the request type to be one selected from among the group consisting of an email type, a file transfer protocol type, and a hypertext transfer protocol type. Responsive to a determination that the request type is among one selected from the group consisting of an email type, a file transfer protocol type, and a hypertext transfer protocol type, the storage server verifies the application. Based on the determination of the request type, the storage server then updates the attribute stream by applying a filter among one selected from the group consisting of an email attribute stream filter, file transfer protocol attribute stream filter and a hypertext transfer protocol attribute stream filter.

    摘要: A method and system for enabling dynamic matching of storage utilization characteristics of a host system application with the characteristics of the available storage pools of an attached distributed storage system, in order to provide an optimal match between the application and selected storage pool. An abstraction manager is provided, enhanced with a storage device configuration utility/module, which performs a series of tasks to (1) obtain/collect the correct configuration information from each connected storage device or storage pools and/or (2) calculate the configuration information when the information is not readily available. The storage device configuration module then normalizes, collates and matches the configuration information to the various applications running on the host system and/or outputs the information to a user/administrator of the host system via a software interface. By using the collected/calculated configuration information, applications are assigned to an optimal storage pool in an intelligent and efficient manner.

    摘要: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for restarting pseudo terminal streams. In one embodiment, a device associated with a file descriptor in a set of file descriptors is opened. The set of file descriptors are identified in checkpoint data for restarting the pseudo terminal streams. In response to identifying the device as a pseudo terminal slave device, an entry for the identified pseudo terminal slave device is added to a list of open pseudo terminal slave devices. The entry for the identified pseudo terminal slave device is marked as an open pseudo terminal slave device. The list of open pseudo terminal slave devices permit pseudo terminal master devices and pseudo terminal slave devices to be restored and restarted in random order during a restart of the pseudo terminal streams.
