摘要: Devices for reduction of damage from friction and for prevention and treatment of skin breakdown by relief of friction and shear forces. A friction reducing device may include a pair of thin membranes with low coefficients of friction with respect to each other, and of which one is free to slide through a limited distance along the other. A method of making one such device includes forming a dome in a flexible film and adhesively attaching a skirt surrounding the dome to a skin contact layer. Similar friction reducing devices may be incorporated in shoes, other clothing, or sports equipment or used to protect movable rods or cables.

摘要: A suspension walker having a hard, outer boot shell with upright brace members attached on either side and a soft boot receivable thereon. The soft boot has a main pad in it with a removable, fitting pad or pads on top of the main pad. A cuff member is also provided that is securable to the patient's calf and to the upright brace members. In use, the fitting pad is removed during the initial fitting and subsequent uses to suspend the patient's foot in the walker. The cuff member is also infinitely adjustable along the brace members to vary the fit as desired.

摘要: A tubular compression bandage of elastic textile material includes a plurality of tightening straps adjacently encompassing the bandage. The tightening straps are fastened by their starting portions to a starting longitudinal strip connected to the outer surface of the bandage and are guided circumferentially in pairs at an oblique angle of up to 30° with respect to the longitudinal direction of the bandage to their terminating portions of the side opposite the starting longitudinal strip to pairs of securing eyes arranged in herringbone-like manner and are folded back therein to form Velcro™ fasteners on the bandage, the degree of oblique guiding being adjustable through selectble fixing of the starting and/or terminating portions of the tightening straps in the longitudinal direction of the bandage.

摘要: A thermal treatment garment of the present invention includes an outer structure layer formed of a pliable material, an interior lining formed of a gel material which directly contacts the wearer skin and a thermal treatment layer to thermally treat and control temperature of the interior lining. The thermal treatment layer heats and/or cools the gel material to a desired temperature and is typically disposed between the structure and gel layers. The thermal treatment layer is controlled by a controller that receives a user-specified or desired temperature. An intervening layer can be disposed between the thermal treatment and structure layers. The intervening layer secures the structure, thermal treatment and/or gel layers to each other and can be an elastomeric material to which the gel and/or thermal treatment layers readily adhere. The garment may be adjustable in size to snugly fit body parts of users in a range of body sizes.

摘要: A method of treating deep vein thrombosis in a limb of user includes applying a deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve onto the limb of the user so that portions of the user's limb extend from opposite open ends of the deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve; allowing the deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve to conform to the limb and adhere to the limb over the area of the user's limb where the deep vein thrombosis resides through negligible compression suction adhesion; heating up the deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve with a user's body heat so that the user barely notices the deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve on the user's limb; and treating the deep vein thrombosis with the deep vein thrombosis treatment sleeve on the limb of the user over the area of the user's limb where the deep vein thrombosis resides. The treatment sleeve may also be used for treating a ligament or muscle injury in a joint of a user.
