摘要： Vehicle hitches of the type having a horizontal hitch bar supporting a medial coupling ball for pulling rental and other utility trailers. Particularly, a weight equalizing device independently pivoted with respect to the hitch bar and extending from the trailer tongue to the automobile frame so as to transfer load to the towing vehicle automobile frame. The device is characterized by a tension plate supported adjacent the the hitch bar and having a tension bar extending aft to the trailer tongue and a pair of coupling chains extending forwardly to engage the auto frame. The device may be used to adjust the trailer tongue level. In addition, the device also provides sway control.

摘要： A tow hitch for vehicles pulling trailers whereby the tow hitch is of rigid construction and is secured to the towing vehicle hitch member with one degree of freedom, that being in the horizontal plane thereby allowing free rotation between said vehicle and the trailer during a turn maneuver. The tow hitch comprises dual lever arms with torsion bars journalled therein, said lever arms and torsion bars secured to the trailer frame members through a yieldable piston means. 摘要： A load equalizing hitch for trailers and the like having a spring bar assembly in which the bar is adjustable angularly in a vertical direction with respect to the ball mount of the hitch, thereby permitting an adjustment of the spring bars relative to one another and to the head to compensate for wear of the hitch parts and fatigue of the spring bars. Each of the two spring bars is adjustable independently of the other and is pivotally connected to the fixture of the assembly. After an adjustment has been made, the spring bar is locked in its adjustable position with respect to the fixture, forming a rigid operative structure.

摘要： A trailer hitch which has a head demountably securable to a rearwardly extending mounting bar of the vehicle. The head permits substantial vertical adjustments before its installation to obtain standard spacings between it and the ground and includes laterally protruding flanges that mount identical load equalizing spring bar connectors. The connectors are retained to the flanges while they pivot about upright axes over a predetermined sector and can be removed from the head when they pivot through other sectors. The pivot axes are slightly inclined from the vertical. The spring bars are longitudinally tapered, retained in rearwardly directed openings in the connectors and include tensioning chains at their free aft ends secured to a retention member mounted to a forwardly extending trailer bar of the trailer. A chain engaging lever enables the simultaneous tensioning of the chain and its connection to or release from the chain retention member.

摘要： A hitch assembly for attaching a following trailer to a leading trailer and preventing lateral pivoting of the hitch assembly with respect to the leading trailer includes a dolly which laterally pivotally attaches to a hitch of the leading trailer. The dolly trails the leading trailer and has a fifth wheel hitch for attaching to a following trailer. A stabilizer on the dolly is deployable near a rear end of the leading trailer such that lateral pivoting of the dolly with respect to the leading trailer is limited or entirely obstructed. The inhibiting action of the stabilizer facilitates accurate alignment of the fifth wheel hitch with the following trailer.
