Abstract: A driving device provides output power to an illumination device including a plurality of filaments is provided. A first converting module converts input power into direct current (DC) power. The first converting module includes a pair of first input terminals receiving the input power and a pair of first output terminals coupled to a first node and a second node and outputting the DC power. A first capacitor is coupled between the first node and a third node. A second capacitor is coupled between the second and third nodes. The first clamping module is connected to a first specific capacitor in parallel. The first specific capacitor is the first capacitor or the second capacitor. A second converting module converts the DC power to generate the output power.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting a discharge lamp lighting device from damage due to mis-wiring of a source of electrical power to the discharge lamp lighting device. The protection apparatus includes a detector, a comparer and an inhibitor. The detector samples at least one monitor point associated with the discharge lamp lighting device to obtain at least one detection voltage. Abstract: The present invention constitutes a control circuit which permits the dimming of the illumination emitted from a fluorescent lamp. A controllable source of alternating current power is converted to direct current utilizing a conventional diode bridge and power filter. The direct current signal is converted to a high frequency alternating current signal using a self-oscillating inverter circuit. The output of the inverter circuit is coupled to a resonance circuit. The lamp will be turned on when the output of the resonance circuit is increased until it exceeds the minimum voltage specified for the selected fluorescent lamp. A voltage doubler circuit powers the fluorescent lamp and permits the fluorescent lamp to be dimmed or otherwise remain illuminated when the input alternating power is reduced below that specified for normal operation of the fluorescent lamp.
