    摘要: An insect trap is described which comprises an insect-attracting element and an insect-holding element, the insect-attracting element being a hologram, that is to say a material in the form of a film which contains the result of a holographic recording method. A cavity or an adhesive, advantageously in the form of an adhesive layer, may be used as the insect-holding element of the insect trap. The insect trap may also contain insecticides and attractants. The use of a hologram is particularly suitable for attraction of flying insect species such as the housefly, the Indian meal moth, the clothes moth, mosquitoes and the common wasp.

    摘要: An insect trap apparatus includes a trap housing having at least one inlet and at least one outlet. A source of suction is located within the housing and is in fluid communication with the inlet for drawing insects through the inlet. Carbon dioxide gas is disposed in the housing and includes a combustion chamber with a chamber outlet. An exhaust system is connected to the CO2 gas source for directing a flow of CO2 from the gas source to the at least one outlet. Insects are caught in a trap cup that is connected to the housing and disposed between the inlet and the source of suction.

    摘要: A flying inspect trap includes large, multi-directional, oppositely facing ingress openings to elongated chambers housing UV lamps emitting insect attractant light. A disposable cartridge has two sections which mate together to form a container for a roll of adhesive trapping medium. The cartridge sections are opened and spread apart to fit beneath the UV lamps. A motor indexes the adhesive medium so that some unused portion is always available for trapping insects until the roll is exhausted. The spent roll is then rolled into one cartridge section externally; and the two cartridge sections are coupled together to encase the spent roll for disposal.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for eradicating fire ants by permeating the soil in a fire ant mound with very small particles. These particles tend to infiltrate and disable the joint structure of the ants, eventually killing them. One particularly effective composition is diatomaceous claynullcommonly known as fuller's earth. The invention incorporates a pump which pressurizes water and feeds it into a mixer. The mixer adds a continuous stream of fuller's earth, which mixes with the water to form a colloid. The pressurized mixture is then fed through a flexible line to a user-held injector assembly. The injector assembly incorporates an elongated reciprocating shaft, on the end of which is a probe. The user thrusts the probe into an ant mound occupied by the fire ants. The colloid of water and fuller's earth is then injected through a central passageway within the reciprocating shaft into the probe. A series of venturi are situated around the probe. These allow the colloid to shoot out into the surrounding soil once the probe is in place. Because it is often difficult to thrust the probe into the mound, another feature is included: The user-held injector assembly incorporates a cyclic valve admitting the pressurized water to a reciprocating shaft. The reciprocating shaft is free to move back and forth in a direction along its central axis. When the user admits the pressurized colloid to the injector assembly by pressing a trigger, the cyclic valve causes the reciprocating shaft to pulse forward and backward rapidly. This action assists the user in thrusting the probe into the ant mound, and also assists in the distribution of the colloid in the ant mound.

    摘要: An insect station for insects having a base, a retainer, a cover and a disposable cup. The base and retainer engage the cup about the opening of the cup. The cover engages the base over the opening of the cup to minimize the collection of rain and dirt in the cup. A hole is dug in the ground for the insect station. The base is disposed at about grass level and is anchored with stakes into the turf. Openings between the cover and the base permit insects access to the cup. The cover and base include key and keyhole structures such that a certain level of effort is required to remove the cover from the base. The insect station may be used trapping/monitoring, where the retainer is used in the nature of a funnel to maximize the chances that insects will fall into the cup, where water, beer or another attractant can be placed. The insect station may also be used for baiting, where the retainer is flipped the other way and is used in the nature of a seal to minimize entry of dirt and water into the cup, where liquid, granular or gel bait is placed. Instead of being set in the ground, the insect station may be hung from a tree, post or other object or be placed on a surface nullupside downnull such that the cup points upwardly.
