A method and apparatus for electrochemically machine lapping a matched set of fixed and orbiting scroll members for use in a scroll compressor. The orbiting scroll member is orbited in a short stroke relative to the fixed scroll member while an electrolyte is pumped between the scroll wraps. An electric current is passed through the fixed and orbiting scroll wraps to thereby electrochemically machine away high profile areas on corresponding metal wear surfaces. During the machining process, the clearance spacing between the scrolls is tightly controlled to prevent contact between the scrolls.

A method and a device for finishing the cut surface of a work which is cut from a metal blank by a wire cut discharge process. The work and the waste piece of the metal blank are positioned in the same condition as just after the process. Electrolyte is fed through a clearance between the work and the waste piece and, at the same time, current is caused to flow from the work to the remainder. This subjects the cut surface of the work to electrolytic treatment to thereby make it smooth while removing oxide films and degenerated surface layers therefrom.

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the manufacture of dental prostheses by means of an electroerosion process by using two template electrodes for erosive excavation. The dental prosthesis to be inserted is made directly from solid material which has not been previously worked. The negative templates of the dental prosthesis contained in the template electrodes can also be made by the electroerosion method. The manufacture of the dental prosthesis can be accomplished by a simultaneous movement of the two template electrodes or by manufacture of the two form halves of the dental prosthesis at different times.

A method of manufacture of hollow turbine blades for gas turbine engines comprises forming them in two parts and brazing the parts together. This requires very accurate machining of the two faces of the parts which are to be joined prior to the brazing process. The invention provides a method of machining two confronting faces of parts of an article which are to be joined together. The method includes the step of passing an electrolyte linishing belt (2) FIG. 4 between the confronting surfaces of the two parts (10,11) and in contact with both faces simultaneously while passing an electric current between the parts. Thus one or both faces of the parts are machined using one as the former for the other.
