    摘要: The method of making blanking die sets provides for preparing a stack of blanks of a predetermined profile for use as positive tool electrodes. The working parts of blanking die sets are subjected to prior machining. Production holes are provided in positive tool electrodes, after which using one of the positive tool electrodes, the working parts of the die set are marked off, dimensions of the working profile of the tool electrode are reduced either mechanically or chemically, and the female die and the stripper are subjected to rough electrical discharge machining. The second positive tool electrode is used for finish electrical discharge machining of the female die and the stripper. The third positive tool electrode is used for burning through a stack of negative tool electrodes wherein production holes are provided. The negative tool electrodes are used for rough and finish machining of the male die and the knock-out.

    摘要: A method of and an apparatus for machining interfitting members to improve their fit wherein the members are positioned to place their surfaces to be interfitted in a complementary relationship with a small gap spacing therebetween. A fluid delivery assembly includes a manifold supplied with a pressurized EDM liquid medium from a source thereof and a plurality of nozzles having each a respective valve and commonly projecting from the manifold. The nozzles have their respective nozzle outlets arranged in an array so as to be disposed individually adjacent to and distributed uniformly in the array along a continuous opening or slit formed as a continuous, narrow and elongate outlet opening of the gap spacing between the members where the surfaces to be interfitted terminate. A control unit sequentially opens the valves in a predetermined order, determined according to a particular surface characteristic of the surfaces which impedes a desired interfit therebetween, to allow the pressurized liquid medium in the manifold to be delivered sequentially to flush therewith particular areas in the gap spacing from the corresponding nozzle outlets. An EDM system having an EDM power supply and a servo system for relatively advancing the members effects electrical discharges successively in the particular areas mentioned, to sequentially remove the surface characteristic until the surfaces establish the desired interfit.

    摘要: A wire electric discharge machine for machining a workpiece includes a handling device for handling core pieces produced by the machine during the machining of the workpiece and upper and lower wire guiding heads moveable with respect to each other and with respect to the workpiece. The handling device includes a gripper mounted in a fixed or movable relation to the upper wire guiding head. The gripper moves so as to face a produced core piece with its gripper base. The gripper includes a fluid inlet where fluid flow under positive pressure enters the gripper and a fluid outlet at the gripper base where the fluid flow exits the gripper. An interior of the gripper guides the fluid flow, producing a low pressure region at the gripper base as the fluid flow exits, generating lifting force to remove the produced core piece from the workpiece by movement of the gripper.

    摘要: A trial tool for injection moulding is made by subjecting a cast Zn alloy tool blank to rapid EDM, using a first electrode and a relatively large EDM gap, to produce a coarse surface closely approximating to the required shape, and then subjecting the coarse tool to slow EDM, using a second electrode and a smaller EDM gap, to produce a trial tool having an operative surface of the required shape. A production tool is then made by subjecting a cast steel tool blank to rapid EDM, using the second electrode, and then subjecting the coarse production tool to slow EDM, using a third electrode.
