[Also in Division B8] In a drive for a fishing reel 12, Fig. 1, in which a spring coupling 11 is driven through a constant tension slipping clutch/ brake device 23, 24, the clutch pressure is set by a nut 18 rotated by the hand wheel 16 and engaged on a threaded portion 20 of a driving shaft 5, keyed to the driving member 23 of the clutch. The shaft 5 is held against rotation in the unwinding direction by a ratchet device 6 so that the clutch may be released by reverse rotation of the nut 18. The nut 18 is driven from the hand wheel 16 through a step up gear 15, 14 and a ball 19 and key-way device 17 which permits relative longitudinal movement of the nut 18. Movement of the nut 18 compresses the clutch brake washers 23, 24 through intermediate spring washers 22, a collar 32 limiting movement of the nut 18 and thereby limiting the line tension below the breaking load.
