    摘要： An improved slant axis rotary mechanism including a housing defining a chamber having an operating cavity. A shaft is journalled in the housing and includes an angularly offset portion within the chamber. The angularly offset portion has a peripheral, generally radially outwardly extending thrust collar. A rotor is disposed in the chamber and surrounds the angularly offset portion. Thrust bearings sandwich the thrust collar and engage the rotor and a journal bearing is disposed on the radially outer portion of the thrust collar and journals the rotor on the shaft. The journal bearing is functionally uncoupled from the thrust bearing.

    摘要： A substantially pollution-free heat engine employing steam as the working fluid and operable on a cycle approaching a Rankine cycle. The engine includes a lightweight, small-size, highly efficient, boiler expander and condenser system which utilizes advanced material technology in order to achieve maximum system operating temperatures of approximately 1,200*F. and operating pressures up to 3,500 psi. The engine is especially suitable for use in motor vehicles and is capable of fast start-ups so as to produce 65 percent of maximum power within 45 seconds or less. Moreover, the engine provides an idle mode of operation for driving vehicle accessories and the like and in addition is responsive to produce rapid power changes needed for acceleration and heavy pulls on steep grades.

    摘要： A gear pump, particularly for pumping gasoline under high pressures, comprises two intermeshed gears on substantially parallel shafts and an annular casing of substantially the same thickness as the gears surrounding the periphery of the gears and held between two casing covers arranged on respective sides of the gears which carry bores for receiving and rotatably supporting the shafts. The gears of the pump each include a bore having a raised or crowned central portion which bear on the gear mounting shaft and they are secured for rotation with the shaft by a bolt or connecting pin which extends diametrically through the shaft and engages at its projecting ends in cross-grooves defined in the gear bores. The gears are held against lateral displacement by lock washers secured to the shaft on each side of the gear.
