    摘要: A breakaway coaxial cable connector includes a conductive body configured to engage a cable. The conductive body is configured to be selectively coupled to an interface port to maintain electrical connectivity between the cable and the interface during operation of the connector when a first tension force below a predetermined threshold level is applied between the cable and the interface port, and the conductive body is configured to be selectively de-coupled from the interface port so as to interrupt electrical connectivity between the cable and the interface port during operation of the connector when a second tension force above the predetermined threshold level is applied between the cable and the interface port.

    摘要: A method of installing a fiber optic cable (10) upon an overhead power line structure, the overhead power line structure including an overhead power line support (60) and an overhead power line (90) carried by the overhead power line support (60), the method comprising the steps of passing an end of the fiber optic cable (10) through a bore formed in an insulator (120); positioning the insulator (120) at an installation location adjacent to the overhead power line support (60) with the fiber optic cable (10) located within the bore in the insulator (120); bonding the insulator (120) in place once positioned in the said installation location; connecting the insulator (120) to a first end of a conductive carrier (160); and connecting a second end of the conductive carrier (160) to the overhead power line (90) such that the fiber optic cable (10) is supported by the conductive carrier (160) and the insulator (120) as it passes from a first side of the overhead power line support (60) to a second side thereof.

    摘要: A break-away hook assembly is adapted for installation for use with a low-voltage residential communication cable. A pair of members is coupled. One of the members has a connector with a terminal portion which receives a terminus of the other member. The connector breaks to release the second member from coupled engagement with the first member so that upon application of a stress in excess of a pre-established load, the cable will sag while maintaining the communication integrity of the cable.

    摘要: An overhead transmission line support structure includes a base segment and a main segment extending upwardly from the base segment. The overhead transmission line structure further includes a hinge operatively connecting the base segment with the main segment such that the hinge provides deflection capacity parallel to overhead transmission lines supported by the overhead transmission line support structure and such that with sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure, the main segment rotates about the hinge. The overhead transmission line support structure may include a post-tensioning system extending along the main segment and/or at least one fuse plate operatively connected between the base segment and the main segment and configured to deform upon the sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure.

    摘要: Risk of fracture of an optical fibre in an overhead stranded electric conductor having an optical fibre loosely housed in an elongate compartment extending throughout the length of the conductor when the conductor is subjected to a tensile load greater than that which the optical fibre is designed to withstand is substantially reduced by supporting the stranded conductor from each of two opposite sides of a tower by suspension means incorporating a weak link designed to fracture at a tensile load less than that which the optical fibre can withstand before fracturing. An excess length of the stranded conductor extends between fittings at which the suspension means are secured to the conductor, is arranged sinuously down one side face of the tower and, where the stranded conductor is an earth conductor, is detachably secured to the tower at spaced positions along its length by releasable clips. When the tensile load on the stranded conductor increases to a value greater than that which the weak links can withstand, a weak link will fracture and the excess length of stranded conductor will be detached from the tower to reduce the load on the stranded conductor and thereby reduce risk of optical fibre fracture.
