摘要: A digger for root crops, such as peanuts, includes two or more digger units depended from a frame drafted by a tractor. Each digger unit includes a screw conveyor, a guide pair helically wrapped 180.degree. around the screw conveyor, and a hydraulic motor to rotate the screw conveyor. Stem and leaf portions of the plants extending above the bed surface are engaged within and moved rearward by flights of the rotating screw conveyor. The stems slide within the helical guide slot, which lifts the peanuts from the soil, moves them outboard of the conveyor, and inverts the plants above the conveyor. The conveyors are angled to the direction of draft so that the inverted plants are discharged from the slots in a windrow on the center furrow between the dug beds. A roller between the conveyors forms a mound or hill in the center furrow to elevate the windrow above standing water.

摘要: A peanut shaker for use with plows and an inverter for harvesting peanuts, wherein mature peanut laden plants are simultaneously removed from adjacent rows of plants in the ground, elevated above the ground, shaken to remove the dirt from the plants, and deposited back on the ground in a wind row. The shaker comprises a conveyor with rattler bars movable up an inclined path to move the plants from the plows to the inverter. Rattler bar elevating wheels are located between the upper and return flights of rattler bars and are arranged to be engaged by the rattler bars moving in the upwardly inclined direction of the upper flight so that the rattler bars and the plants carried thereby are jarred in an upward direction causing the dirt to be removed from the peanut plants.

摘要: A root crop harvesting apparatus operable for digging root crops from a pair of adjacent rows, conveying the dug root crops upwardly along inclined spaced parallel paths to an elevated position and discharging the plants for fall by gravity to the ground. Digging means are operatively associated with the harvesting apparatus for digging and removing root crop plants from their growing implacement in the ground. Conveying means are operatively associated with the harvesting apparatus for engaging the root crop plants, uprooted by the digging means, and operable for conveying the plants upwardly along the spaced parallel paths to the elevated position and operable for simultaneously separating soil therefrom. Plant deflecting means are operatively associated with the harvesting apparatus for contacting plants moving along the spaced parallel paths and operable for effecting an angular displacement of the plants inwardly from their original upright position to a generally horizontal position, to cause them to lie down in the region between the spaced parallel paths so that the plants can be discharged in these positions. Rotatable disc directing means are operatively associated with the harvesting apparatus and located in a position to receive the plants discharged from the conveying means and for directing the plants rearwardly for fall by gravity to the ground. Windrowing means, including two sets of spaced tine assemblies which define a windrowing path therebetween, are operatively associated with the harvesting apparatus for engaging the crop root portion of the plant during fall by gravity to the ground for directing the crop root portion angularly so that the plants are inverted with all of the root crops being crowded together to form a single windrow centered between the rows being dug and with the crop root portions being elevated for maximum exposure and aligned along the top portion of the windrow.

摘要: This invention relates to a means of orienting a harvested crop relative to a series of rotatably operable cutter disks used for severing stems from the crop being harvested. More particularly, this invention includes a crop-orienting attachment detailed in design to be operatively associated with a harvester stemmer bed which includes a series of laterally spaced and parallel arranged rows of rotatably operable cutter disks, with the cutter disks of each row being in substantially coplanar alignment. The croporienting attachment includes a substantially flat plate element having a series of laterally spaced and parallel arranged slots detailed for receiving the rows of cutter disks. An elongated crop-orienting member is fixed to the plate element adjacent each of the slots. Each of the crop-orienting members includes a vertically extending surface portion which is detailed relative to the slots such that the vertically extending surface is adjacent to one edge of the slot and is substantially parallel to an axis extending through the slot. Adjustable means is operatively associated with the crop-orienting attachment for adjusting the lateral spacing between the crop-orienting members and the cutter disks.
