    摘要: A crop harvesting combine having a body with a feeder house at its front end. The feeder house carries a detachable header which may be wider than the body and can thus be detached when moving the combine. The feeder house is vertically moveable in an arcuate path from a header ground contacting position to an elevated position. A first thrashing cylinder is in the header and a second thrashing cylinder is at the front of the combine body. The arcuate path of the feeder house has its center approximately at the rotational axis of the second thrashing cylinder so the distance between the axes of the first and second cylinders remains approximately constant as the feeder house is moved vertically. Downstream of the thrashing cylinder are a plurality of separation cylinders, at least some of which have concaves thereunder for reorienting elongate trash before being discharged.

    摘要: A system for threshing podded produce such as peas and beans, which may be harvested with their vine attached. A horizontal, cylindrical, rotating screen encloses a main beater having numerous paddles of height about one-twelfth the beater diameter. Paddles are pitched at an angle of about 25 degrees to a plane including the axis of the main beater and are also raked backwards by about 15 degrees from radial. A counter-rotating first satellite beater disposed above the main beater collects produce which has been macerated between the main beater and the screen and cooperates with the main beater, the linear tip speeds of the paddles and blades of both beaters being identical, to discharge a radially narrow, high-speed stream of macerated material across the interior of the cylindrical screen against a first sieving region of the screen above a second satellite beater. The second satellite beater cooperates with a counter-rotating third satellite beater, the linear tip speeds of the blades of both beaters being similar, to discharge a radially narrow, high-speed stream of macerated material to strike against the main beater, from which the material is thrown by the main beater against the screen at a second sieving region of the rotating screen near the lowest point thereof. Macerated produce is carried upwards again by the screen into the nip between the main beater and screen, beginning another macerating and sieving cycle. A threshing system in accordance with the invention may subject produce to 10-15 such sieving cycles and therefore has a very high percentage yield of seeds.

    摘要: The present invention provides apparatuses for threshing plant material having seeds contained in pods. Preferably, an apparatus of the invention includes at least two threshing members between which plant material to be threshed is passed. The threshing members are generally constructed and arranged to exert a compressive force on the plant material as it passes therebetween. It is believed that the compressive force exerted on the plant material causes air trapped inside the pods to expand and force the pods open, releasing the seeds contained therein. Apparatuses of the invention include, for example, a pre-threshing apparatus, a vining machine and a harvesting machine. Preferably, an apparatus of the invention provides an efficient method for increasing the yield of undamaged seeds.

The disk assembly is substantially horizontal. The disks are offset relative to the disks on adjacent shafts so that disks on the two shafts interdigitate. The action of the rotating disks and the blower on the material flowing over the disks provides a more efficient cleaning mechanism for the peanuts.

A concave structure is also mounted in the framework in a fixed position in the framework and generally underlies the cylinder structure to form an entrance area, a separating area and an exit area in conjunction with the cylinder structure. A feeder is carried by the framework for delivering sesame stalks with the pods thereon, sesame seed pods and sesame seeds to the entrance area so that they are introduced between the cylinder structure and the concave structure and pass through the separating area for separating sesame seeds therefrom and discharging the remaining stalk and pod fragments through the exit area. Walker assemblies are utilized for removing the remaining stalk and pod fragments from the exit area. The cylinder structure and the concave structure each have rows of spaced apart blades which have knife-like leading edges for slicing open said sesame seed pods so that the sesame seeds may be readily separated from the pods. The blades are carried by cylindrical surfaces.

The cutting edges of the knife portions are movable in a circular path concentric with the feed path and an opening device is connected to the cutting member for moving the knife portions with the cutting edges radially outwardly and increasing the radius of the circular path taken by the cutting edges. A stalk pulling member is movable from an upstream position between the cutting edges to a downstream position and the pulling member includes a cylindrical outer surface against which the knife portions can bear.
