    摘要: A method of repairing an underground large-diameter pipe having an inner surface includes first supporting with props inside the pipe spaced inward from its inner surface a lining having a shape conforming to that of the inner surface and then injecting a hardenable mass into the space between the inner surface and the lining and substantially completely filling this space with the mass. The mass is then cured and the props are removed. Then the cycle can be repeated for the next lining section. The lining is made of a durable synthetic resin, polyvinylchloride or high-density polyethylene.

    摘要: A sewer (1) is relined by introducing a flexible tubular waterproof membrane (4) and then inserting a pipe or pipe length (5)(5a)(5b) into the tubular membrane (4). Grout (10) is then introduced between the sewer (1) and the membrane (4). A further membrane (7) may be provided so that the grout (10) is located between the two membranes (4,7). In the case where the sewer (1) includes an opening for a lateral connection (11), the grout (10) extending across the opening can be removed. Alternatively the grout (10) can be prevented from extending across the opening. Another tubular membrane (8) may be located within the pipe lengths (5)(5a)(5b) to be filled with water during the introduction of the grout.

    摘要: A remotely controlled locator material dispensing apparatus for use within a conduit having an axis to mark specific conduit locations for later identification. The apparatus includes a control device located outside of the conduit for generating a plurality of control signals for controlling the operation of the locator material dispensing apparatus. The dispensing apparatus includes a first structural unit having a source of locator material to be dispensed onto an interior surface of the conduit. The first structural unit is connected to the control device for receiving the control signals therefrom, and for dispensing the locator material from the first structural unit onto the interior surface of the conduit in accordance with the received control signals. A monitor is positioned within the conduit for locating the specific conduit locations and monitoring the dispensing of the locator material.

    摘要: Magnesium oxide is included in a bentonite clay anti-friction composition in an amount of 0.025-0.25% based on the dry weight of the clay to substantially improve the efficiency of underground cable or pipe installation. The anti-friction composition is applied between an outer surface of the cable or pipe and tunnel walls to substantially and unexpectedly reduce the amount of force, e.g., hydraulic pressure, necessary to push or pull the cable or pipe into its intended location within the tunnel. The composition includes a water-swellable colloidal smectite clay, such as bentonite, and magnesium oxide in an amount of 0.025-0.25% based on the dry weight of the clay. In another embodiment, the composition also includes a polymeric fluid loss reduction agent, such as carboxymethyl cellulose to decrease the amount of the clay composition absorbed into the tunnel walls. Soil is extracted underground to form a tunnel and the cable or pipe is forced by a hydaulic jack, into the tunnel. The tunnel walls surrounding the cable or pipe are contacted with the composition comprising a water-swellable colloidal smectite clay and magnesium oxide in an amount of 0.025-0.25% based on the dry weight of the clay, while forcing the cable or pipe into the tunnel.

    摘要: A method of lining a main fluid conduit 1 having a branch conduit 2 and apparatus for use in the main conduit includes a carrier 7 which is longitudinally displacable in the conduit 1. A portion 9 of the carrier is rotatable above a longitudinal axis and carries a scissors-type extendible linkage 10 having a platform 11. By rotation of the portion 9, displacement of the carrier 7, and extension of the linkage 10, service structure on the platform 11 can be maneuvered to be located in the branch conduit 2. The service structur=e may be a water jet cutter or a locating member 15 having a chamber which is expandible by fluid pressure to engage the sides of the conduit 2 and be retained therein. The locating member 15 includes a metallic part which a metal detector can detect through a lining which is fitted in the main conduit 1 to determine the position at which a port has to be cut in the lining to coincide with the branch conduit 2. Preferrably the chamber of the of the locating member 15 is expanded by fluid pressure through a hose 20 and non-return valve so that the hose 20 disengages automatically at a predetermine pressure to isolate the locating member in the conduit 2 when the platform 11 is withdrawn.

A grout tube is inserted into the annular space through the second seal at the high point of the second seal. A vacuum is applied to the second end of the vacuum tube and a grout mixture is applied to an opposite end of the grout tube. A sufficient vacuum is maintained within the annular space for such a time period to draw the grout mixture from the second end to the first end of the pipes to completely fill the annular space.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for laying conduit within a trench, using a separable boxlike structure with end walls, side walls, a fill bin compartment internal of the boxlike structure for receiving fill material and dispensing fill material onto the bottom of the trench, and a conduit laying compartment through which conduit is fed for positioning on the bottom of the trench. The boxlike structure has a rigidly mounted tow bar which facilitates application of vertical, longitudinal and lateral forces on the boxlike structure to thereby enable an operator of the apparatus to maneuver it on-grade and in alignment along the bottom of the trench. The boxlike structure is maintained on-grade and in alignment with the assistance of a laser transmitter/receiver assembly and several grade-maintenance features, including a shearing blade which automatically adjusts its vertical position in response to the laser. When an obstacle is encountered, the boxlike structure may be separated into an upper portion and lower portion so that the upper portion can be unconnected and removed from the lower portion. The laying of conduit within the trench can continue using only the lower portion until it is clear of the obstacle and the upper portion can be repositioned on the lower portion. The apparatus may also have a dewatering system, a conduit setting system, and a system for dispensing fill material around the conduit and onto the bottom of the trench.

    摘要: A continuous concrete encased conduit laying apparatus is attached to the rear of a tractor in a cantilevered fashion and can be raised and lowered into the ground by the tractor. The apparatus has two sections which are pivotally attached to each other. The forward section is the gouger, and it has a vertical bar having a sharp leading ripper edge. At the base of the bar are attached a wedge and a cone-shaped expander for creating a cavity in the ground as the apparatus is being pulled through the ground.The rear section which is the conduit layer, has a vertical guide tube, a concrete chute attached behind it, and a second expander forming the base of the layer. There is a hopper for holding the fresh concrete at the top of the chute. A quantity of conduit is fed through the guide tube as the apparatus is in operation. The cavity created by the two expanders is filled with fresh concrete as the conduit is laid in the cavity. The second expander can be round or rectangular in cross-section for holding several conduits, and for creating various cross-section encasements. The method includes the steps of laying the conduit and encasing it with concrete in the cavity.
