    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe DFOS/DAS systems, methods, and structures that employ active microphones to enhance DAS operational capabilities by using an active circuit to amplify acoustic signals including voice(s). The circuit includes a microphone to collect acoustic signal(s) resulting from voice signals in the environment, and a speaker or a vibration device driven by an amplifier. The circuit can be clipped onto the fiber, with direct contact through the speaker or vibration device. A microcontroller may advantageously be employed to control the circuit for reduced power consumption, by detecting activities locally and only enabling the speaker when needed. The microcontroller may also send other information such as battery status to the DFOS interrogator through vibration codes.

    Abstract: A system is provided for interpretable viewing interest. A transformer with multi-head self-attention derives different hierarchical orders of input features. Hierarchical attention layers (i) aggregate the different hierarchical orders to obtain aggregated single-order feature representations and (iii) derive aggregation attention weights for the different hierarchical orders based on an applied order of the hierarchical attention layers. An attentional scoring layer evaluates the aggregated representations to output a significance of each order with respect to various CTR predictions. A hierarchical interpretation layer determines a respective importance of each input feature in various combinations from which the various CTR predictions are derived based on the aggregation attention weights and the significance of each order. A display device displays each of the various combinations for the various CTR predictions along with the respective importance of each of the constituent one of the input features in the various input feature combinations.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe systems, methods and structures for determining any location on a deployed fiber cable from an optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) curve using a movable mechanical vibration source to stimulate tiny vibration of fiber in deployed fiber cable along the cable route and a fiber sensing system at a central office to detect the vibration(s). Latitude and longitude of the location(s) of the vibration source is measured with a GPS device and a dynamic-OTDR distance is measured at central office (CO) simultaneously. The collected GPS location data and corresponding dynamic-OTDR distance data are paired and saved into a database. This saved data may be processed to graphically overlie a map thereby providing exact cable location on the map thereby providing carriers/service providers the ability to improve fiber fault location on a deployed fiber cable much faster and more accurately than presently possible using methods available in the art.
