Abstract:
A passenger seat air bag module for supporting and deploying an air bag at a location relative to the instrument panel of a vehicle is provided, which includes a housing, an air bag sack, a gas generator for generating gas for inflating the air bag sack, and a cover element for covering a deployment opening through which the air bag sack is moved when it is deployed. To withdraw the cover element, a drive mechanism applies a pulling force to the cover element via a pulling force transmitting element. The drive mechanism includes a drive block having a plurality of paired cylinder bores and associated drive pistons and a push bar driven outwardly by the drive pistons. The outward movement of the push bar effects withdrawal of the cover element from its deployment opening covering position to its withdrawn position by the pulling force transmitting element.
Abstract:

RESOLUTION MEANS An airbag device 100 comprising: a cushion 102 that is rolled and stowed at an upper part of a side surface in a vehicle cabin and expands and deploys along the side surface, an inflator 104 that is inserted in the cushion and provides gas to the cushion, and a tab 130 for suspending the cushion from the upper part of the side surface, wherein the cushion includes: a duct 144 provided with a tab extending in the front-to-back direction of the vehicle at the upper part of the side surface and that expands and deploys due to inflow of gas, a main chamber 146 positioned below the duct, and a sub chamber 148 provided at the upper part of the side surface, the upper end 172 of the sub chamber is positioned above the upper edge 158 of the side window 118, and the lower end 174 of the sub chamber is positioned below the upper end 160 of the duct.
Abstract:
A knee airbag device including an airbag cushion, a storage case in which is formed a horizontally long opening part where the expanded and deployed airbag cushion pops outs, a first flap for covering the airbag cushion exposed through the opening part such that the airbag cushion is retained in the storage case, and having a first weak part that breaks when pressed by the airbag cushion during expansion and deployment, and a second flap, which is a component with a larger dimension in a length direction than the first flap and for covering an outer surface of the first flap so as to transverse in a short direction of the opening part a center part of the airbag cushion in a lateral direction, the second flap having a second weak part that breaks when pressed by the airbag cushion after rupture of the first weak part.
Abstract:
PROBLEM An object of the present invention is to provide a side airbag device for which the deployment behavior of an airbag cushion during expansion and deployment can readily be controlled and that can reliably receive and protect an occupant. RESOLUTION MEANS With a side airbag device 100 according to the present invention provided with a bag-shaped airbag cushion 120 that utilizes gas supplied from an inflator 124 to expand and deploy to a side of a vehicle seat 104, an interior base material panel 120a of the airbag cushion lower end vicinity 126 is folded back to an opposite side (far side) of an occupant 122 of the vehicle seat and makes friction contact with an upper surface 128 of a console box 118 arranged between the vehicle seat and an adjacent seat 110.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle and a method secure a passenger in the motor vehicle in a collision. The motor vehicle has a seat including a seat body, which forms a seat surface, and a backrest connected to the seat body. An inertial force acting on the passenger in a collision is transmitted by a seatbelt arrangement to the backrest in such a manner that the latter pivots forwards relative to the seat body counter to the restoring effect of an elastic and/or plastic deformation of at least part of the backrest. A force which counteracts the pivoting-forwards action is generated by a force generator, and transmitted to the backrest, and/or the maximum pivoting path of the backrest is limited by a limiting device in that, when a predetermined reference acceleration is present, a deviation between a present pivoting path of the backrest and a predetermined reference pivoting path is minimized.
Abstract:
A steering wheel is disclosed enabling suppressing unnecessary rocking of the airbag module during airbag activation and thereby ensures prescribed deployment performance of the airbag cushion. In detail, the steering wheel is provided with a core metal having a boss part configured so as to be mountable on a steering shaft and an airbag module movably provided with respect to the core metal and having an airbag cushion that can be expanded and deployed. The stopper of the core metal is separated from the stopper contact part of the airbag module in a non-activated state of the airbag, and comes into contact with the stopper contact part due to movement or deformation of the airbag module caused by expansion and deployment of the airbag cushion during activation of the airbag.
Abstract:
An airbag device for protecting an occupant in a passenger seat of a vehicle, is stowed in the instrument panel, and is provided with an inflator that generates expansion gas and an airbag for restraining the occupant that expands and deploys from the instrument panel towards the occupant side based on the gas discharged from the inflator. The airbag is formed of woven cloth with mutually orthogonal warp thread and weft thread. The airbag includes an occupant side panel facing the occupant and side surface panels that are connected by a seam to a peripheral end part of the occupant side panel and from side surfaces of the airbag. Furthermore, the occupant side panel and the side surface panels are connected so the fabric of both panels approximately match at a connection point.
Abstract:
To prevent outward gas leakage between the airbag cushion and inflator during expansion and deployment with a simple configuration. The present invention provides an airbag device including: an airbag cushion having at least two panels; an inflator that discharges gas inside the airbag cushion; a first piece extending from an edge of a first panel of the two panels that is folded in the middle into the airbag cushion; a second piece provided on a portion near the edge of a second panel facing the first piece inside the airbag cushion and sewn to the folded part of the folded first piece; and an insertion passage for the inflator formed from sewing the folded part and the second piece, and extending from inside the airbag cushion to outside.
Abstract:
An airbag device mounted on a steering wheel of a vehicle having a rim with a shape in which a distance from the center of rotation to an upper edge part is shorter than a distance to the left and right edge parts, including: a gas generator secured to the steering wheel and for generating expansion gas; and an airbag cushion that expands and deploys toward an occupant side by the expansion gas. The airbag cushion has a vent hole for exhausting the expansion gas. Furthermore, when an occupant comes into contact with the expanded and deployed airbag cushion, the airbag cushion deforms toward the front of the vehicle, and when a portion of an upper region of the airbag cushion advances more forward than the rim of the steering wheel, the vent hole is provided at a position that is blocked by contacting an automobile interior component.
Abstract:
A seatbelt device for a motor vehicle, including: a diagonal belt portion and a lap belt portion, each of which is connected to a seatbelt retractor that can be fixedly secured to the vehicle, a seatbelt buckle that can be fixedly secured to the vehicle, and a seatbelt tongue that can be locked to the seatbelt buckle. One end of the lap belt portion is secured to the seatbelt tongue, and one end of the diagonal belt portion is secured to a fitting, the fitting being rotatably connected to the seatbelt tongue. At least one sensor is provided and designed to detect the rotational angular position of the fitting with respect to the seatbelt tongue and/or the seatbelt buckle. The invention further relates to a corresponding method.
